I have an 89 k5 and didnt get tagged in this post!
That being said, this guy has his mega stock even the ugly side trim that came in a box when I bought mine.

this example is concourse level in my opinion.

(I found this post searching if anyone has a k5 build posted on tacoworld)

When I was at Pete's getting the camera wired, he had an early 2000s Volvo XC70 with 300K miles that was getting a new engine. The car was in pretty good shape but the engine was tired, so the owner was paying five grand for a used engine!

I guess if you like what you got, fix it.
5k doesn’t even get you started on a vehicle.
5k just pays the dealer mark up.

Pete is making serious bank installing used engines in well-maintained, older model, high-mileage vehicles for people who don't feel like bending over for the stealerships...

I have only replaced 1 engine in my person vehicles.
That was a 1979 Trans Am. I replaced it with an engine me and my father rebuilt.
    Lots of lessons learned.

    1. NEVER have project car has a daily driver.
    2. Burn out sets in quick when all you do is go to work, just to make money and “got to work” on your car.
    3. It’s even worse when you’re a teenager in high school trying to do it.

I have been reminded once again why, with few exceptions, I am better off not dating women who are on the autism spectrum; I would like to make it clear that while my ex-girlfriend Rose is autistic, she has numerous mental and psychological issues that affectively cancel out the autism. My friend Anna is one of those exceptions, but she is taken. Anna and the guy she's currently dating tried to set me up with a friend of theirs who is on the spectrum because, in their opinion, I calm her down in a way they haven't seen before. The girl they tried to set me up with posed for pictures as my last "Zombie Huntress" of the season. She is very kind and not mentally deranged like Rose, but she is a handful. Her mom told me that she is a handful, and my friends who tried to set us say she's a handful. They weren't kidding. Apparently, another autistic guy she was previously in a relationship did acid and basically fried his brain. He was a bit aggressive with her as a result of the aforementioned fried brain, and she has no concept of what acid is or how it affects the mind, so she worries that any guy who shows romantic interest in her is like this guy who did acid.

My Tacoma is in the process of being restored, but the restoration process doesn't affect its ability to be a daily driver...

I also found out after, taking the picture, that I am no longer able to activate the camera manually when the truck isn't in reverse...

I have never taken acid, but today has been a hell of a day.
If there was ever a day to make a man try new things……today was one of those days.

Going back to the whole "autistic women" thing, I am sometimes annoyed by the various quirks of autistic people, even ones that mirror my own quirks. One annoying thing about autistic people under the age of 25, regardless of gender and especially if they don't have a driver's license, is that they think someone on the spectrum who has a driver's license and their own vehicle has no problem driving them all over creation. Fortunately, most of them pay you back for the gas used, but not all do. I finally got my driver's license in 2011 when I was 22 years old, and my parents paid for everything related to the truck until I finished college in 2015; I got my first real job in November 2014, and for the next seven years I paid for basically everything relating to the truck myself. This included inspections, oil changes, and preventive maintenance. From the end of 2016 onward, when my dad signed the title over to me and I got my own insurance policy, I paid for the insurance too. My parents did have to pay for the head gasket replacement, because I did not budget for that at all.

Autistic adults who don't drive don't tend to have much grasp of what it takes to keep a vehicle on the road, especially an older vehicle with nearly 160K miles, and even more so in today's shitty economy. Constant around-town driving is hard on even the best-maintained vehicles; I found this out the hard way when I was doing DoorDash as a side hustle, and it is one of many reasons that I refuse to do DoorDash anymore. The guy who Anna is seeing is not the spectrum but does have other issues, and has a full-time job but no driver's license. He is currently out of work until after Thanksgiving for reasons I can't discuss publicly, but I mentioned the other day that he messaged me asking if I could take to a strip club.

I was going to go along with this, until he mentioned that he wanted to bring his friend who has no experience whatsoever with women and also no driver's license, to "get laid"; I told him that (A) I am not burning gas to pick up someone else at their house, (B) I do not feel like cramming two guys into my truck in addition to myself, (C) I am a terrible liar and don't feel like asking my mom to borrow her Murano so I can take guys to a strip club, and (D) it is not legal to "get laid" at a strip club in Pennsylvania. He also asked, before inquiring about going to a strip club, if I wanted to go bar hopping; I explicitly said that I do not feel like buying beer at a bar when I have plenty of beer at home, nor did I feel like paying for an Uber (don't drink and drive, folks).

I actually work and can't afford bar hopping or an evening at a strip club right now, and when I reminded my friend that he was not working, he dropped the subject...
