Are there any pizza cutters tires for 16 inch wheels? I want a taller tire but I prefer oem rims or trd pro, or even the trail edition rims but those are mostly 16s. The 17" SEMA style wheels are nice too but I prefer the 16" Pro/Trail ones.

255/85/16…. Search around. There’s an equivalent pizza cutter thread for 16s, and lots of one-off threads.

I just paid $290 each for the Toyo AT3 in a 255/80. If I get the 50000 miles they claim they will be worth the price. I only got 30k out of my Wildpeak AT in a 265/75r16.

I wish tire manufacturers made this size in C load :(

255/80/17 E load wildpeaks are 52 pounds each. For example 285/70/17 C load KO2s are 51 pounds. Not a big difference IMHO.

I feel people on the forum inflate the effect of tire weight. The added rotational inertia of a few extra pounds on your tires is small compared to the total weight of the truck. There are calculators on the web that give theoretical arguments for this. The rolling resistance of tires is likely more important. The problem is that tire manufacturers do not publish rolling resistance, so we are left assuming there is a 1-1 relationship between rolling resistance and weight.

Rotating mass is what hurts the power and mileage.

Rotating mass is harder to accelerate than sprung weight. Touche

I don’t disagree, but as I already said, the effect is small compared to the total weight of the automobile. Additionally, the additional rotational energy used to accelerate the automobile is only lost when braking whereas rolling resistance is wasting energy at all times the automobile is moving.

In any case, I encourage you to fact check your assumptions.

not just weight difference…c load tires ride a ton better. I went from brand new 265/70 k02’s to Toyo at3’s in 255/80’s the e load killed the ride of the truck. I had to air them down to 26-28 for them to ride good. I loved the size but e loads are too stiff for these trucks. Swapped back to a 265/70 ridge grappler, picked up 2mpg and rides light years better.

I searched up some 255/85/16s and seems like Falken Wildpeak M/T01 is one of the best values in its category while being decent on road and off road. Discount Tires has em for $260 per. The only thing that confuses me now is offset. I have no idea how that works and am wondering if I'll need spacers or anything for the factory TRD OR wheels when putting these tires on? I like my tires flush with the fender rather than sticking out/recessed in.

I think the stock OffRoad wheel is actually the preferred wheel for tall skinny.

I went with 4runner SR5 "snowflake" wheels on my 2019 TRD OffRoad. Zero rubbing so far.20221111_101805.jpg
