Dude! That's utter crap. The new motors even run cleaner and headers should get a pass, but more bureaucratic tape.

These won't pass CA compliance technically since they'd need a tax stamp and precious metals. They came on the manifolds already and don't think it'll be much of an issue. Though, I've never seen a smog tech climb under, I suppose it could happen. I don't see why they wouldn't pass the smog check readiness tests. One way to find out.

Can I borrow your smog certificate?
Just kidding. I have to do the same before the end of this month.

On other news, I have some fueling issues. Brief back story, after rebuilding the engine I started working on cleaning up the tuning. Having a lean issue at high load and high rpm it looked like the fuel pump or filter being the issue. The fuel pressure was starting to drop off at 45k on up. Okay no problem new 265lph pump another data log annnnnnnd same issue. Has anyone seen fuel pressure regulators only act up under high load? NO I do not have the fpr mod.
I know I have homework to do this weekend, just trying to cram as much in at the same time if I can.
Side note: I have a fuel pump assembly with filter built in, (O.E. style with a 245-255lph pump, V-8 4-runner assembly if anyone is looking) LOL!

Alright guys I'm back for some help. How in the heck do I get the steering shaft back together? I had to pry it apart and I can't get either side to "collapse" so I can mate them back up.

Loosen both bolts on the coupler and slid it up as far as you can and that should give you the space needed to connect it. It will be a huge pain in the ass.

Pure brute strength gets it in there. The same way you had to do it to get it out is the same way it goes back on. If you spray some WD40 or silicone lubricant on it, it should help you slide it on a little easier, but either way it sucks and is a craptastic design. But hey, we need it, so..

why are y’all fretting over it so much? I lived in San Diego till 2018 and my old desert truck was illegal as heck. I would always find a friendly smogger who wouldn’t mind and extra greenback.

    Is it new?
looks like a good bit of rust. I would take the whole coupler off, clean the splines and then put some lube for assembly. Lube is key! Always :)

I'm no stranger. I always keep my track cars street legal. Prices have gone up though, used to be 60-100 in person, 120-150 off site. Now those prices have easily doubled. No multi car discount lol

Just getting. Harder to do that and not deal with it. If you got a hookup then it makes it easier for sure

I finally got it! Good grief this install sucks! I also had to drill out one hole on the driver side header to y-pipe flange the supplied bolt wouldn't fit. Now my y-pipe to cat-back connection is crooked and I can't shove catback around cause tail pipe hits spare tire. I guess imma have to go back through and loosen everything up including the headers and see if I can get it to line up. Oh and I need a extension harness for my wide band now too...I can't find one of those either. I'm about to sell this thing lol anyone want a 09 with 57k.

Looking for extension harness for one of these if anyone knows.

Where's your wideband sensor connected? Min seemed to have enough to get past the collector on the y with slack. But I have an Aem wideband although the sensor is Bosch I believe so maybe mine has a longer sensor wire.

Don't lose hope, you're almost at the finish line and the headers are very worth it.

Mine is on the passenger side collector. If I could find the same sensor with a longer lead would be nice but I figured the extension would be cheaper.

Just cut the catback before the muffler. Might be a good time to weld in a cherry bomb since it’ll otherwise rasp anyway

I have a vibrant resonator to install. Just wanted to get it up and running first.

Yeah so autometer doesn't make a simple extension harnesses, instead they make that whole new harness from gauge to sensor. So instead of the 8ft one you get with the gauge they will sell you one that's 25ft long. So I'm going to try and move my sensor and harness to driver side collector.

Just get a Denso sensor. You can literally buy it in tons of different lengths that will more than reach the passenger side. Plus it'll be cheaper than some extension harness.

Also it won't die after 4 engine turn ons and go giving you an error code or overly rich/ lean condition which doesn't actually exist on your gauge because you went with Bosch.
