Does a pejorative analogous to “mall crawler” exist for sports cars that are never taken to the track?

Ever been to Scottsdale? It’s all mall crawling sports/super cars. It’s sad. It’s like having a 3rd gen TRD Pro and never touching dirt. Like why’d you buy it?

I was going to say Covette.

Mustang would be pretty popular given the era of malls and the fox body being the same.

Today I would say Challenger and Charger would hold the title of... Retail Racer, but do people really track them?

No pejorative exists that I know of.

I have been to Scottsdale and my boss at the time took us to the drag strip where I we watched a bunch of high performance cars do their thing. He owned some sort of Porsche GT turbo exotic thingy that I think mostly used to impress clients. His daily was a gigantic full-size Mercedes or GM SUV. I was not offered a chance to drive it or a glass of the chateau lafite-Rothschild that he corked at the party. :)

As a girl, my wife would ride in the backseat of a '69 Dodge Charger Daytona to the grocery store. They had to park at the end of the lot of course. :)

Taking a car to the track absolutely trashes it. Plenty of enjoyment to be had on roads without getting pelted across the entire front end with rocks, boiling the brake fluid, and destroying a set of tires.
    No thanks

Yes I agree here. Not going to a track is completely different than not using 4 low on dirt.

This makes answering the OPs question more challenging.

I suppose owning a track focused car like a GT2 would be posing a bit if not tracked regularly. Same with a 360 Challenge Stradale. IMO its just stupid to have one for looks only.

But these track focused cars are a lot different than my base 911 C4 which is fun to drive on the street. I would love a Ferrari 550 with three pedals too. The allure of these cars is the touring nature and beimg able to drive them to work.

If I didnt intend to use my Tacoma in the dirt though i would be posing-a Sienna would be a better purchase if that were the case.

Where does owning a $200k Demon fit in??

How about the copper colored pristine, low mile, 1999 'unlimited'/no speed rated Hayabusa in my fathers living room?

My E46 M3 is no track machine but it sure is a fun canyon cruiser. For now it just sits in the driveway being neglected while I work long hours ever day.

Wait you use 4lo on dirt?! I’ve used 4lo…once? In the last year and a half I’ve owned my sport and I’m off road every week…

A 991 or 992 is one of the few cars that is just at home sitting in traffic as it is on the track.

Corvettes are the official mid-life crisis cars for guys that want to hang around their garage and drink beer with their buddies, having a pissing contest about which of their vettes is better because of the wheels, tires and color. A dart board and neon signs are mandatory.

That said, the z06 c8s are sexy and I would absolutely take one... if I had a garage with a dart board and neon signs. Or a garage.
I would happily own all of these cars, never take them to a track, but still have a blast on the parkway. But I suppose that is fairly analogous to a Taco, since you can just as easily DD them as you can take them to a track day. Calling any of these things dedicated track only/off road only vehicles is misrepresentative.
