That I did do because that’s what I thought I was supposed to do. My insurance guy said no I need to contact the other guys insurance since it was his fault. But he ended up recording my statement while I was on the phone with him

Doing a little bit at a time.
In some states if you claim it on your insurance it will cause your own insurance rates to increase. Your personal insurance company will advise you to file claim with other persons insurance company if other person is at fault.

Sad to say that I was you have super low miles, that’s probably going to be totaled.

Airbags went off. Entire passenger side crumpled. If the cab is hit then that would solidify my armchair estimate.

I would wager than the estimator will come in with $15-20k in estimate.

It’s all going to add up quickly. All the little things like the bed side decal, rock chip film, flares, wheel, new leaf spring(s)…

not correct. a “claim” in itself is simply a claim that some type of damage happened. it does not establish fault. and not reporting an accident to YOUR insurance company is what we consider “insurance fraud”. however, most people don’t understand that.

but it is true even not at fault accidents can raise your premium, but the accident will show up on your clue report regardless if you report it to your insurance company or not.

what’s even more confusing is that some independent insurance agents are old school and seem to think the insured needs to contact the at fault’s insurance company. this is wrong and dangerous advice.

always contact YOUR insurance company, let them start a claim and then yes, they may advise you to contact the other insurance company. this is the proper order in which to do things.

and never try to determine fault in any accident. you’re not a claims adjuster!!!!

Yes my insurance was company was notified. What do you mean/ why never try to determine fault? Im supposed to let the adjuster tell me that I got hit or what?

you tell them the facts of the accident but you do not establish fault, that’s their job. they will conduct an investigation and work with the other insurance company to establish fault.

either way you will have an accident on your clue report - either at fault or not at fault. and either way it can effect your premium at your next renewal. yes we can ding you for not at fault accidents!
