You sure you drained the engine oil and not the trans fluid? Oil is in the litttle black oil pan. Just in case you drained trans, added 6 qts to engine.

You didn’t notice a leak when you changed the oil?

Why would pinching an o-ring make it leak above the pan there's no oil up by the filter it's back further on the vehicle

Oil pressure will make the leak worse and look like it is coming from the above because of the pressure induced spraying action. My money is on the improper installation of the oil filter housing which includes seating of the O-Ring. Did you use Toyota factory OEM filter and O-rings? I don't think the issue is due to oil brand.

If you have 12 QTS of oil in the sump it sure as hell will show up on the dip stick! Oil it's self has nothing to do with it, it does not arbitrarily leak.

Maybe that plastic oil filter housing has a small crack from using the old movtix tool or some other similar type that grabs the housing's ears instead of the flutes.

I will check again I'm going to wipe everything down super clean pop that plastic clip off I have to watch start the truck and watch with a flashlight to see if the oil is coming down or getting squirted up I'm pretty sure it's coming down I don't see how even with a squirt gun you could get oil from the filter housing to the rear of the pan above it and then up into the housing past that clip

I changed the plastic housing out yesterday morning for the metal one because it was a piece of crap and the drain plug on the bottom was not working it was frozen.... Also I was hoping bringing the oil level right in between the two dots would help but it didn't

I did use a fram filter the first time and when I change the cartridge housing I put a new mobile one filter in there the more expensive filters around $20 a piece

FWW these trucks are miserable to check oil level. If you simply check the level pulling the dipstick it's not uncommon for it to read high. If you pop the dipstick and leave it slightly ajar for 15-20 minutes and let the dipstick tube drain down you'll get a more accurate level. I ran into this with my truck after a dealer oil change. I thought it was way high and the service advisor said to try that for level so while I didn't buy it at the time, I did it at home and the level was bang on.

I just don't understand...... I've never seen a filter raise pressure enough to blow SEALS or anything like that I'm not a mechanic but usually you can find the two plus two and always get four

Your truck has 90k on it. It's the rear main seal. Ignore it, put 30 wt in it , or get it fixed.

I'm definitely going to get it fixed . To have a rear main seal go out at 90,000 is crazy I have a RAV4 it's a 2001 with over 315,000 on it and it just keeps going..... It does burn a little oil though.
