Thank You to tonered and all who have contributed to putting these instructions together.

I updated my 2021 OR from 04c20 to 04c21 this morning. No issues, the instructions were excellent and the process painless.

    Bit of a fun one...

Was updating my ECU from 04B31 to 04B33 to swap tunes and my computer crashed while it was updating...
    upload_2022-11-11_18-41-50.jpg

Now TS refuses to talk to the ECU:
    308846269_1338487776896647_9084447194217_2cbc2505b0d951f4a50b775d352e97be30a3719d.jpg

and a recovery(force) flash via vF also fails...
    313994647_580368933855935_54391198700339_243d936553b571e3a41b741fa19772670ea63665.jpg

Anything else I should try before ripping out the ECU and finding someone to bench flash it for me?
Note: Running a health check via TS shows all yellow issues. vF is able to unlock the ecu and get it to respond a bit but then errors out with the above.

(I'll be gone most of the day tomorrow but will check back in tomorrow night)

Have you tried recovering with 33? Might have got updated enough before it crashes it wants 33 instead of 31

Yeah, and with 30 with no luck. Also tried unlocking the ecu via vF then loading TS with no luck :/

If the ID you attempt to flash is wrong (according to the ECU), the vF flash window has to be closed then reopened or else each attempt will continue to fail. I'm not sure why that is the case but definitely slowed me down a few months back.
So if you were B31 and you were in the process of updating to B33, then attempt force/recover with B31 (which it appears you did try). If it does not work, then close out the flash window (not vF, just the "VF ECU Programming Utility" window), reopen the flash window and attempt force/recover with B33.

I believe I tried this but will give it another go just to be safe. Thanks for the help

Edit: No luck, same error as above just with different calibration IDs

A flash failure during a CUW, especially Cal1, is typically not recoverable. It is likely you will need a new ECU. Doesn’t hurt to try a bench flash once the ECU is removed though.

I'll do a quick write-up of how I got it to recover tomorrow. Thank you guys for the help.

I’m stupid and need some help with the Taxrix cable part. I lost my old one so I need to find a new one.

First I checked Amazon and saw a bunch of knock offs, which I’m glad I saw a post here not to use those.

I did see one on Tactrix’s site for 169.00. Before I spend that I have a question. I have my old OVT dongle style OBD connector (gray/clear no orange) that I’m going to use for the VF Tuner. I saw a few people using the orange adapter for this techstream flashing stuff.

Can I use the VF Tuner/OVT thing or should I buy the Tactrix one?

TLDR: it was related to an add-a-fuse I had in the INJ slot under the hood.
    ------------
Still not sure exactly why the force flash failed but documenting here just in case anybody else runs into this going forward.

I was messing around trying to get some type of communication with the ECU and got sick of listening to the secondary coolant pump from the maggy kit running at full blast so I removed the inline fuse.

This allowed TS to recognize the VIN from the ECU as well as the current calibration ID. (It was still on 04B31 but refused to start)

Great I thought, went in to vF and it refused to flash the stock 04B31 file with the same error as before but then allowed me to flash the Maggy 04B31 file. (Honestly not sure why)

I then went back into TS to try to flash the 04B33 file and it failed with a calibration mismatch.
    313781286_645442423728039_70108202253192_cd3c77e73e071293c45c3a7552969860f6c5a019.jpg
If you look at Current Calibration ID(2) you can see why. (Looking back in this thread I think this is due to maggy flashing the erom but smarter guys than me can answer for sure)
    312705892_1492928904504541_5732949580989_d9a8e86b3f07123381d3e7e0b42bc3f3df2f804c.jpg

Cool, I'll just try flashing back to the stock file... But it failed. After fussing with things a bit I ended up adding back in the inline fuse for the coolant pump and was able to force flash the stock 04B31 file.

I then hopped back into TS and tried to update once more. This indeed fixed the Network issue in the screenshot above but now complained about the voltage even though it was reporting seeing 13+ V at all times but would see small dips as the coolant pump kicked on and off.

I once again removed the inline fuse for the pump then the update via TS ran no problem.

Lastly, I tried to flash the new maggy tune both the normal way and using the force flash and received an error identical to my previous post(ER 3319).

I put the inline fuse back in then the tune flashed no problem the normal way.

    -------

Really no idea why the truck would be so picky about an add-a-fuse but I know many of you guys also tap the INJ fuse for other reasons so it might be a decent place for you to check if you're running into similar errors.

What a huge headache. Anyway, I got everything all taken care of and am looking forward to trying out @MGMSangTaco and the rest of the OTT guy's new tune.

Hope that was helpful. Thanks again guys.

Aw man! Had I seen you were pulling your INJ fuse because of your SC, I could have pointed you to this post here by @mZiggy! Regardless, good job troubleshooting!

Ugh. I never liked how the wire tap on the 2nd gen was on the IGN. I didn’t know the 3rd gen was the same.

Sure it may be “easy” for a dealer to install, but on the 2nd gen it is super annoying to have the intercooler pump running every 30-45 minutes for several hours after turning the truck off.

Hopefully we can add into the page one as a tip about “if you have a Magnuson supercharger or anything tapped off IGN, disconnect and/or remove your tapped fuse NOT IGN to prevent bricking the ECU”.

What's lucky is I only disconnected it originally because I got annoyed listening to it.

Any idea how or what that might impact on the flashing side? Seems crazy to me that the car could detect and more-so care about the add-a-fuse.
