Welcome to RI, here's your cabinet, good luck and godspeed.

I've heard some no bueno about Win 11, mostly the start menu shenanigans. But, to me it looks like they're moving toward tablets/wearables and away from PCs, and the old guard is NOT happy about that.

What's she going to school for? Something smart I think I remember you saying.

oh hell yea, Whataburger does the same thing. fill out the "how was our service" questionnaire and get a free Whataburger....still end up paying 4.50 for the drink/meal...o_O

sometimes i get lucky and get the laziest of the lazy at the register and they dont even type in the code on the receipt so they give me the "free" sandwich with a new receipt that has another questionnaire....suckers

Whataburger is my last last last very last of the line choice of lunch when i dont have left overs.

I know it's a debate, but I vote Whataburger as the best burger chain.

That said, it's like having the best room on the Titanic.

its like those ATT promo's where they'll give you $800 for your iPhone 11 and you walk out with the latest greatest iPhone 14....wife is due for an upgrade. her 64gb iPhone 11 is full to the brim with over 4500 pics of god knows what. phone barely operates so shes been nagging for a new one. she wants the 13 mini like i have but they stopped sending them to retail stores. only way to get it is to buy off apple.com. wellllll i told her just to take the $800 trade in and sell the 14 on FB and pocket the extra $200 after buying the 13 mini

i like whataburger, but i try to spare my arteries.

Then again, I'm on prepaid. I bring the phone, 30 or 35$/mo for service. My wife and I together is 55 I think, so I don't know solo.

I use Google Photos. It auto uploads, then you can delete them from the phone.

Shit balls that's not a bad idea. I have one of those routers (an older one, but whatever) and a harddrive I can do that to....Hmmmmmmmm.....Me thinks I might need to look into this.

No shit you can do that? Can I hook one up to an eero mesh network?

My GF is the same way. She has had SD cards fail in two different phones and lost 2 years of pictures of our boys. After the first one I got her a 1 tb HD and guess what she hasn't done yet...that was a year ago.

    I know right.

I will say - with backups, depending what you're backing up, you'll want to have a second point too. I had a (potentially neurotic?) coworker at my old job - he would backup and then bring the backup drive to work, so it was off site. It was an email machine, so nothing critical, but on an industrial scale it makes sense. Domestically, :notsure:

A lot of modern routers have ways to hook up HDD/SSDs, I just don't know the software/apps needed to do it. I will, soon, though.

im not sure what other routers it can be done with. only know that my brother does it through his night hawk. but id assume any router that has a USB port on the back can do it

i bought her a thumb drive that plugs directly to the phones charging port that she can transfer all her pics to....guess what she hasnt done yet...

i feel your pain bro lol

i can just about imagine the panic and tears of losing 2 years worth of pics lol my wife didnt even lose any pics yet and she was on the verge of crying because her phone was stuck in a boot loop. i may have stoked the flames of panic by telling her the only way to fix it was to wipe it clean....turns out paying $75 at the orchard works too.
