I searched but can’t find anything about it.

Just after install I noticed a significant loss of damping in front. Think I read the shocks are digressive so I assumed it would just be like that but would be fine. Probably have 4k miles on it now and one of them is definitely blown. Noise and zero damping.

Question is is this common and has anyone successfully solved the issue?

I do 100% street driving. I’m considering shocks in a stiffer KYB variant and replacing the inside upper mount bushing with thin rubber and steel washers.

Are the KYBs the same diameter as the base black Tacoma ones? I’ve also shortened the strut rod before on a lowered vehicle by cutting it off and welding on a bolt, but I’d really like to avoid that.

    Ideas?

Are you suggesting that the SOS big brake kit blew your shocks?

    Yes
psst...it's lowering stuff. Common problem on lowered trucks is finding decent shocks with a short enough eye to eye so you can chop off the lower eyelet, shorten the shaft and reweld it back on

Thought it would be obvious which kit. The SOS lowering kit. 2/3.5 drop.

Replacing the inside upper bushing with something thinner would move the shock rod mount point up and put the static ride height compressed length closer to pre-drop spec. Keeping the shock operating closer to stock range.

I, too, forgot lowering was a thing. My apologies.
