What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Thanks for this info. It looks like the TG motor mounts wont work for me. The headers would be into the frame rail and/or the TC tower gussets. It is very tight there.

But yeah, I would just buy the bonzen ones.

 

Oooh I like that. No way I'm spending $300+ for some damn motor mounts, I think this is the way to go.

 

Bonzen's are $415 now. The TG's are $165.

 

Root cause was Mr Finesse himself sending it on Fins and Hell's Revenge

Are you happy with the way these turned out? How much did they end up raising the engine?

 

It's a challenge getting used to all that new torque.

Thank you! Been a big fan of Everlast machines for garage duties the past few years. I've had their Powertig 200DV for a few years and just picked up this Cyclone 212 for mig duties. Feels good to have a glue gun around again. Excited to use it for future sliders / bumper.

Maybe you don't value your time as much as me, but buying TG mounts and completely rebuilding them was definitely not worth it.

That truck should walk up that slickrock with hardly a tire chirp.

Yes, but it was a lot of effort. Engine is at factory height, but you could easily build them to raise it a bit.

Yeah I don't think modifying TG mounts would be worth it, at that point it looks simple enough to just build them from scratch. And I'm sure it can be done for a hell of a lot less than $165.

We are swapping his transmission soon, that would be the time...

In his defense, it rained hard the night before, there were pools at the bottom of every hill climb and the slickrock was all sandy. Still plenty of traction, but nearly as good as when it's dry.

Don't sell yourself short, a little more skinny pedal and you could have had all of 'em spinning.

 

Well I did this yesterday, but I started my truck for the first time since March. Need to fix the high idle, but she sounds and run phenomenal! Hopefully this weekend she's rolling out of the garage!
