Use the Fuelly app to track your mileage, gallons consumed, price, etc. It’s free and easy.

Couldn't take a picture but today I got 24.9 on the trip out and 21.7 on the trip back, which consisted of more secondary city driving.
The 24.9 was mostly highway and I pushed to 79MPH before I realized I was law-breaking so I eased down to 72 for the 18 mile trip.

    24.9 ain't too shabby.

200 miles isn't enough to form opinions, get back to us after 2000 miles. I've gotten 4 mpg and 40 mpg over short stretches. Around town in a lot of city driving that isn't too far from what I'd expect. On the road, under ideal conditions you'll do a lot better.

The on-board computations can range from very accurate, to very inaccurate. My F150 has never been off my more than 1 MPG and closer to 1/2 MPG is the norm. I've seen others that were off by 4-5 MPG. But they are almost always optimistic. I've never seen the on-board calculations worse than when figured by hand.

Thats cash in my pocket. :poking:

Now tell me to get a Prius so we can make this a true MPG thread....

My first (partial, half-tank) fill up averaged 15.9 MPG. My second fill up, today, came out to 16.8 MPG. 75% in-town, 25% highway, TRD Pro auto. I'm not babying it, figure if the MCU needs to learn my habits, well, I should drive it like I will typically drive. Funny thing is when I put today's fill up in Fuelly, it told me I had too many miles on the tank compared to the average miles input (I assume across all Tacomas in Fuelly). LOL. Still not sure what to make of that.

It is what it is, but it will get a little better, but not much. You will have to drive it like a granddaddy in a caddy.
The best thing to do is figure out why gas is so expensive and do the only thing that you can do to change it.
Of course I am a couple of days late on that advice. lol

Build a still, and make your own ethanol/methanol from garbage, then dilute it with some gasoline. Its one way to make a gallon of gas go further.

I was getting around 17-18 with a light foot about a year ago, thinking i would get better milage. When I started pushing harder, more aggressive, the milage went up to about 19.3....I'm stock.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Nah, size 11s and I like moccasins.
I'm anal enough to maintain a fuel log. Every time I fill up the data goes into the spreadsheet. Have 15 years worth from my previous '06 TRD OR as well.
Aside from serious maintenance, fuel is the primary cost of enjoying my Taco. It's nice to know how much of my meager budget goes into it.

Make a chart like CT Yankee did and you'll see there is no break in with respect to fuel econ getting any better.

Some state their vehicle stats but most dont. Gotta be a big difference depending on 2wd or 4wd, lifted, tires, lowered, 6cyl, 4cyl, drive with AC on, off, ect.

I recently traded in my 2018 TRD off-road 4x2 for a 2023 limited 4x4. The deal was too good to pass up, and I had some buyer's remorse about getting the 4x2 before. My gas mileage in the 2023 limited with stock tires is below 19 mpg so far, whereas I was typically getting 22 mpg in the 2018 off-road with OR tires. Obviously the change to 4wd will drop the mpg a little, but I haven't been using 4wd except once to test the vehicle. The only other distinction is that I had a tonneau cover on the 2018 truck but haven't added it to the new one yet. I'm hoping that will help some, but am a little disappointed with the new mpg at this point. The 2023 transmission seems to not search as much as the 2018, making it a little more fun to drive, but I used a pretty light foot with both trucks and rarely get over 3500 rpm. The suspension is also a head scratcher as the 2023 is stiffer so less bouncing on the road. I'm pretty sure the lift is identical between the two. According to the spec sheet the new truck should get 20 mpg for the kind of driving that I'm doing.

I would give it a couple of thousand miles before you settle on the numbers. Are the mpg numbers you are reporting highway, city or tank average? How are you measuring?
