I suspect its spending a lot of time with the torque converter unlocked while it waffles between gears which will murder mpgs.

I have no advice to give, unless OP wants to buy a 15 year old nissan off of me that doesn't have this problem

bro chillax, im not bitching about poor gas milage, im wondering if somethings wrong with my truck, so im asking others if they have the same issue, and if/how they fixed it.
at 75 mph without cruise control its near 20mpg
at 75 mph with cruise control its near 15mpg
all im asking is if theres a way to fix it, not to bitch, calm your tits

    That's probably fair.

Have you tried using the standard CC? I feel like there would be no difference...but you never know. Also is ECT off? ECT will tend to hold on to gears a bit longer.

6mt here, I can expect about 17-18 mpg at 75mph. If I slow down to about 67 then my mpg is 20-25 depending on terrain

The cruise control is just terrible on the trucks. I have a 2017 and it's always been that way. I get several mpg better with the cruise off.

On the automatic, how do you tell which gear it is driving in? I haven't found a setting to see more than the generic "D" on the dash.

At 75 mph in my V6 automatic I usually get 19 mpg with cruise off and 15 mpg with the miserable cruise on that constantly wants to downshift and run 3000 rpm.

6th gear in my truck at least is pretty much useless. IMO double overdrive is not needed in a heavy truck with an engine that makes shit TQ down low. I use S mode and leave it in 5th unless I am traveling on a 70 mph highway and going down hill.

I have no issues at all my CC. I use it a lot and set it at 50 MPH on some roads and 70 on most major highways up here in Canada. If you use it like it is designed then you should not have any problems with the way it works. I usually bring the distance between my vehicle and the next down to the very shortest distance. When I am ready to pass I will take the CC off till once I am in front of it then turn it back on again if not when I come to pass the CC will detect the vehicle in front of me and slow me down automatically which is kind of scary until you realize what is happening. just saying I got use to it now.

I view CC as comfort, not efficiency, especially w adaptive on.
That said, using Tacoma for daily commuter for over a thousand miles a week and complaining about fuel efficiency seems silly to me. Most would be in a fuel sipper w that commute.

How does it perform with cruise set at 75 or 72? Have you used S4 and set sixth as the top lockout gear? This disables learning AI.

ECT doesn’t do anything above 50 mph.

Are you talking about ECT or Adaptive Cruise Control?

The newest version of the KDMax tune (KDMax Pro 9.0) that was recently released has taken advantage of some upgrades in VFTuner and made improvements to the cruise control shifting. You can take a look at some actual user experiences/reviews on the KDMax thread in the Performance and Tuning forum.

When I make trips to Fl. on 75, I set the cruise at 78 and get 21mpg. It is a very flat drive so no inclines. I also use 89 octane. It is a 2022 with 9000 miles amd no mods. There are a lot of factors to concider when trying to figure mpgs such as wind, rain, weight, tires and tire pressure.

    @Nirango kid

Same for me...I use the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) on Hwy1/I95 going north to Wilmington/Philly area and south to Lewes/Rehoboth/Dewey Beach.

I also activate the Lane Departure Alert (LDA) and have both systems working together.

This is done because I bought an aftermarket vintage grill & garnish so testing it as often as I can is a must to ensure the system works.

The distance range for the DRCC/LDA can both be activated/changed on the steering wheel.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I have the OTT 8.0 Tune with Gear Lock.
