Easiest cabin air filter I've dealt with. My work truck (2018 F-150) has it in the same spot, but you have to remove trim and unbolt part of the dash to get to it. Really annoying in the summer when I have to change it once a month.

I don't think they ever changed the cabin filters on the work trucks at my old place. Talk about stank

That's why I think they never or very rarely did. Vents barely worked on anything lol

I like the YJ! I’ve had my 94 coming up on 10 years, bought it when I was 17. Done so much to it but it still looks relatively stock/medium level build. Haven’t driven it in two years because I started one project that turned into like 50, but I should be back on the road in a month or two (although it will be too cold to actually drive it then).

There’s a pic from 2013, it looks way more worn now but it’s still about the same and still on the same tires and rims. Though the rims are almost gone, I’m about done with black.

It’s funny you mentioned the master cyl. I MUCH prefer the Jeep design. It is the perfect design because it and the slave are connected by a hose. Actually no, on your 93 you have an internal slave and that kind of sucks. But 94+, both master/slave and the hose can be bought as a prefilled unit and changed in like 5 minutes. Vs the Tacoma is a whole slew of crap with the MC way up in the dash integrated into the pedal, hoses and hard lines pulling from either a remote res or the brake res, and then a hard mounted slave with the accumulator plumbed in. Not a fan of the Tacoma plumbing, but whatever.

The TJ improved upon the YJ design by using a larger brake booster, bolting it straight to the firewall, moved the clutch MC further to the driver side, and moved the wiring elsewhere. They angled the clutch pedal in order to put it in a natural spot for your foot still. But the YJ design is still good too. Love the Jeeps!

Very nice! What all have you done so far? I know what you mean about project creep - mine spent almost a year on jack stands a while back. And too cold? Mine was a daily back when I lived in WY. Drove to work for a month in 30 degree weather with no top, but I don't necessarily recommend that to others.

Yeah, internal slave sucks. I swapped to an external when I rebuilt the transmission back in 2017, just forgot about it on the mod list. Definitely a needed improvement, though I pieced it together and bench bled rather than getting a complete unit.

Still makes sense to me that the Tacoma is set up for ease of manufacture, not future maintenance. Toyota engineer friend of mine basically confirmed that.

Brake master will be swapped for WJ unit whenever the steering upgrade happens....

That being said, the Taco units aren't that bad.... They're just not as good as the Jeep ones :D

Thanks! I’ve done too much, honestly I need to start a build thread here. I won’t detail out all the stuff I’ve added and removed (multiple suspensions, various consoles, etc) but basically as it sits today:

    JW speaker 8910 headlights
    Quadratec tail lights
Bright LED bulbs in all blinker spots (had to do some rewiring with diodes and resistors for it to work)
KC gravity G4 amber fog lights
KC cyclone hood light contraption I built
Baja designs S1 lights (flush mounted in rear bumper as backup lights)
    Warn front bumper
ARB rear bumper + tire carrier
    Bestop seat covers
Tuffy console with radio slot (radio relocated there)
    Sound deadening on the tub
    Magnaflow catback
2.5” Old Man Emu with their shocks, shackles
    JB Conv SYE
    Adams driveshaft
Dana 30 CAD delete using TJ parts (retained 4x indicator light)
06 TJ rear Dana 44 with disc brakes
    Both axles geared to 4.88
    TrueTrac LSDs front/rear
    Magnaflow Cat & Catback
    New AX15 in 2016
    Luk Pro gold clutch
    Centerforce high inertia flywheel

future: redo the audio system (did it years ago but the parts got ruined in rain), warn winch, and a few others. New steering gear eventually, mine is worn to hell.

I did do the WJ steering years back but I just could not get it to handle right. I think others have had better luck than I. That swap was a shit show of figuring out what parts work with what. The brakes were good, it was the steering I Didn’t like. Not sure what to do to improve it but I went back to stock and threw the stuff on the shelf. I did do the Vanco/Black Magic big brakes and they were amazing, I sold those to do the WJ swap. I regret that decision for sure since it didn’t work out.

I did the 95 4.0 booster swap and honestly it was not a big improvement at all. And since the 95 parts are rare, they’re hard to get. So I went back to stock booster as well. Your stock booster/master will work perfectly fine with the WJ calipers. I’d wait before you proactively swap the booster/master. And if you do want to swap still, do the 95 YJ parts, at least if you don’t want to do a decent amount of fabbing.

nice work on the external slave swap. I’d definitely do the same. I have been emotional support for many Facebook folk doing that swap. If I bought a 93 or older that’d be the first thing I do probably.

Hah, too cold is relative. I like cold, and I’m good with 30°, but on my 45 mile commute it’s just hard to justify when I have a fun manual Tacoma to drive also :D

My 1995 Bronco that I bought new has been my main project for the last few years, it was actually my daily driver til I bought the Tacoma last December. Next project is my 84 Bronco with 4 Wheel Drive camper. Go fast project is my 06 Mustang GT.

Neither is better or worse functionally. Tacos are just more of a pain to work on.

Can't pass up an excuse to post my dad's

    Polish_20200826_183234621.jpg

That is indeed quite the list. Funny how we went very similar but slightly different routes.

I've got my parts pretty well sorted out, just need to get around to actually doing the swap. My main goal is fixing the lift-based steering slop, most everything else is secondary or a bonus. Went with a WJ brake booster and master because I got them for $20 at a a u-pull yard. Junkyard/secondhand YJ parts are virtually nonexistent or crazy expensive around here.

Yeah, cold is definitely relative. I have my reasons for that commute, also about 45 miles. I was also a decade younger, and that was pre-Taco.

Awesome Broncos! Would be fun to have one, but I'd rather find an 80s or 90s 3/4 or 1-ton.

    Nice birds! Beautiful dog, too

Eggs have been nice, but these two birds haven't been great about paying rent. They've gone broody multiplies times over the summer, which seems odd particularly for this breed. They're also some of the dumbest, awnriest, most disgusting creatures I've dealt with. And I want about a dozen more.

We had a cold front move in yesterday, so they're going to lay even less. They're also both molting and look incredibly hungover. Put up a plastic sheet as a wind block and ran power to their heated water bucket. Wyandottes are supposed to be very cold tolerant, but this is also my first year with chickens so any tips are greatly appreciated.

    Damn, that thing is sick!

I bet the mod list is too long. What is still stock?

    But really, details?

The cowl is still from the factory, and original engine (but not for long).

    Specs:

Drivetrain-5.3L/4L60E/Atlas 4.3. Currently still have the 4.slow installed. I’m in the process of making the 5.3 a 425hp axle snapper.

    Axles:

Solid Industries custom front D60 (same specs as 88-91 Ford axle housing), GM knuckles and bearing hubs, alloy shafts, grizzly locker 5.38 gears.

Shaved rear 14B, stock shafts, grizzly locker, 5.38 gears.

    Suspension:

    3 link front, king 2.5 14” shocks, 2”king bumps.

Rear 4 link, king 2.5 14” shocks, 2” king bumps.

If you guys ever off-road some CO trails, hit me up.

I was in KC Kansas in June staying at the Great Wolf Lodge and was looking around. Bet there is some hidden gems for off-road trails.
