Good morning, all. Another great weekend in the books. Fantastic weather, even with the rain, for the weekend. Did not get cold till Sunday. Lots of good food and entertainment. I was the DD so I did not drink.

Today is about shopping, and getting dinner ready. I started some baked beans last night with soaking some Rancho Gordo red, pinto, and black beans. Cleaning out the pantry, today is cleaning out the fridge. So, any veggies that need to will be going into the beans. I may end up with a bean soup. Whatever I make it will be cooked on the smoker.

Evening all:

NOTHING'S GOING RIGHT!

My buddy shot a decent buck this morning, blood, blood, blood, blood, then nothing, we couldn't track it any further and had to give up on it. Then after that he was walking out and missed another buck at 20 yds. Walking in this morning, I had a buck come to me at about 20 yds , NOT LEGAL, I got to where I sit and there are 2 deer right in front of where I sit , then walking out I had another buck come to me also at about 20yds., another one NOT LEGAL. We also saw a big buck go through the brush and out of range, plus my buddy saw another buck with some does right when he started walking in this morning, looks like they finally started moving!
Maybe I need to lend my buddy my spare Excalibur crossbow to get the job done, only problem is if he shoots it, he would never be able to cock it again!

Morning 60+

 

Good morning!

Yesterday went by quickly. Chicken came out great, but the baked beans were too spicy for the wife and son. More leaves to rake but first need some paper bags. BJ's club was sold out, so it is off to Lowes I go. I also need some hardware to hang some BBQ items in the laundry room.

 

sixtys/wannabes/winter preppers. Yesterday I ran the mower over the yard for the last time this season -- oddly enough even the oak trees have dropped their leaves already, and the poplar tree 'helicopter' seeds are pretty much down too. I cleaned the garage gutters before running the mower so that's done too. This morning I am going to do something I've never done before, put lawn fertilizer down just before winter. We had a terrible time with crabgrass this year and from what I've been reading the best thing to do to combat it is make the regular grass happier. So I'm giving it a try.

 

A late fall feeding is the best thing you can do for your lawn. Especially true if you use a slow release organic like Milorganite

 

Question to all you chefs out there...

Is there something you can add to spicy foods that will dilute the heat?
