Not sure what your truck looks like already, but I have my truck setup pretty much at stock height. Icon adjustables up front (would not buy again), and Deaver U402 Expedition Stage 3 in the back paired with Bilstein 5160s. Loaded like this... I sit level. No airbags needed. And just FYI, recently weighed my truck with this load... I was 2000 pounds OVER GVWR. I'm not saying I had 2000 pounds of payload... I'm saying I had 2000 pounds OVER max payload. I am not suggesting anyone do this, just giving a shout out for Deaver springs. I've towed thousands of miles like this. Unhook the trailer and I'm still about 1500 over. Deavers can be installed in your own driveway, along with the shocks pretty easily. Shouldn't need air bags or upper control arms, etc... I will highly recommend re-gearing though. Save your money for that. Any questions just ask. Check out my Scout thread in my signature, too!

I'm hardly the towing police but that is insanity. At 7600 lbs gross on the truck, you're over GVWR for all the of the half ton trucks and in 3/4 ton territory to carry a slide in plus that trailer.

    7550.

But yeah, I'm not disagreeing with you.

It really blew my mind that with just ARB bumper, high clearance rear, sliders, Deavers, winch, and some camping gear + wife, I was at 5550, right at GVWR. Adding the camper and ALL of our camping stuff we blasted over 7000.

And again, not saying anyone should do this. But I will say the truck has handled it like a champ, lol.

I have it in my head to do a sliding license plate mount…. Or maybe something that swings or slides side to side or up/down…maybe even make it so you can slide it down over the fairlead when not in use…. Still noodling out an idea for mine.

Like you and supr4lo mentioned, the fold out mounts sound like a great idea until you need to use it.

i just realized that the first pic with the little dowels was not what I ended up doing. Ti have a tendency to overcomplicate things, so that was before I realized I could just cut a stupid piece of square tube…. I ended up using the little holes to get the square tube welded on nice and tight on the strap and the mounting plate.

I think the tacomas have more mounting options, so when I realized I could just use the battery strap assembly, I went with that. It’s on super solid and doesnt interfere with the hood.

Has to be gears and locker? You're pretty much setup otherwise.

So how do you like the camper? I just don’t know if I would like that much sticking up in the air. I like the pop up style.

Ya, I'll use a front axle from a 80 Series Landcruiser. Do you know where I can find one?
