Going to get a remote starter installed in my son's 07 AC/4x4. Only question is can we still get the remote starter installed if we only have the Valet Key. When we bought the truck that's the only key that came with the truck. Locksmith said the truck came with a Fob and will program a new one if I want one made. I was trying to save a few dollars if I can bypass that step and get the remote starter installed without the new Fob. Any input/help would be appreciated. Thanks and enjoy your day.

What do you plan to use as the "Remote" for starting? The N2 Designs system let's you use a phone, or OEM Fob, or an N2 long range Fob.

Also... Toyota shuts off the vehicle when you open the door after remote starting. Not sure if that extends back to 2007 models.

I was hoping to use the remote/Fob that comes with the remote starter kit or do I still need the OEM Fob that I don't have?? Was just looking to save a few dollars if possible. Thank You

The truck currently starts with a physical key? If so I think you can get by without the OEM fob and just use the fob from the remote. But don't take my word for it. Call or email N2 designs and find out for sure. Http://N2Designsinc.com

You can get an aftermarket remote start installed (I.e. viper, ect) without having the OE fob.

With an aftermarket alarm you will also need an immobilizer bypass module to be able to remote start the truck without a key. You need the master key to program said module, but I believe that’s only applicable to 2010 and up Toyotas. which key do you have? Does it have a transponder? This may not even apply at all if your truck isn’t equipped with an immobilizer

Thank You from another Masshole!! We are in Medford.
Thank you guys for responding. Truck is a 2007 so I don't believe it has an immobilizer. The only key that came with it was the metal Valet Key.
