Yea. We all need to meet up. Lol I have been on this forum for years.

Unfortunately, computers are the future for Toyota and any manufacturer. I can't imagine the reliability of the new tundra being that high .. a dual turbo hybrid. I would imagine the next gen Tacoma will be a hybrid with a turbo.
At least I deal with computers and troubleshooting for a living.

As someone who had a Jeep until last summer and was left stranded a couple times, be aware of weird electrical gremlins, keep up with the recalls/get on the forums so you can get on the dealers waiting list early, and do not buy the American Adventure Lab high line fender brace lights, they’re garbage. @SCSPerformance offered a nice set of Jeep wheels, got mine through TW actually. PRP seat covers are great(had ostrich in mine because I’m extra) but are a pain in the ass to install. Resist the urge to throw 37 MTs on your Heep like me.

As long as you get the V6 and don't touch the motor it will be fine honestly. I've been looking at gladiators for a while and where people get into trouble is messing with the motor by adding superchargers etc. The motor is very reliable but you'll probably run into occasional electrical issues my dad has had a few but it will be covered under warranty if it does happen. Jeeps are the best out of the factory wheeler imo. I wish toyota would step up their game a little.

This.... just because one person had a bad experience doesn't mean the other tens of thousands of people did. Same could be said about toyotas. there's always a bad apple in any brand and toyota isn't exempt from it either. Especially the new ones which seem to be made more cheap and are prone to more issues.

I wish you guys would start a Jeep vs Taco thread to have this discussion instead of hijacking this thread.

I read through his whole build thread. I feel bad for the dude but it was his own doing. He self-installed the supercharger voiding the factory powertrain warranty, and spent a bunch of money on mods which of course are worthless at trade-in. The Magnuson supercharger for the Toyota 4.0L is fairly low output and "only" adds about 65 HP. The Magnuson for the Pentastar 3.6 adds 155 HP. I'm still in the market for a JL Wrangler Rubicon, it's got everything stock that was a mod on my Tacoma, even 4:88 gears.

My 2 cents on the whole Jeep vs Toyota debate. I have a 2009 Tacoma. I also have a 2018 Jeep JLU Rubicon. I have a 2023 4R ORP on order. Keeping the Tacoma, the Wrangler is for sale.

So what we're having a discussion, if you don't like it simply avoid it and go cry somewhere else.

yeah these kind of people always humor me. "hey don't buy this they're crap, but ignore the $20k worth of mods I did to make it crap" lol I think each have their strengths for sure, just depends what suits you better.

To be fair, before the Jeep he was running a pretty aggressively modified supercharged 4.0 2nd gen Tacoma with a 2.6” pulley etc. without any issues. Guys in the SC thread here get pretty wild with how far they push it … basically we’re all spoiled with how stout our Tacomas are (over)built.

The TRD/Magnusson is super conservative, as long as the engine has been maintained you're fine. For example:
