I’m starting to notice a trend emerging, at least around me. It’s mostly Chevy half tons, but they’re wrapping a chain between the front tow hooks, but it’s not tight, it says pretty low. There’s one truck near me that has the chain damn near dragging and I’m just waiting for him to learn a valuable lesson about momentum and general physics if that chain catches a manhole lip or RR tie at a crossing. Seems really stupid to me, wondering if it’s just the locals around me or some larger stupidity movement.

Seen't it. Trend. Sometimes people will pull line and wrap it so it's easy access instead of digging it out in the mud. Etc etc. Then someone sees it, thinks it looks cool, and does it. Etc. etc. etc.

Which reminds me. I’ll use a tow strap ( harbor freight) for pulling out stuck motorists this winter. If I come upon them and she’s a hottie. :p

You're braver than me. I'll make sure they're ok, but I don't pull anyone out unless I'm in a desolate location. God forbid something breaks on either vehicle and you're screwed. Most people in a ditch are there for good reason (driving too fast, poor tires, not paying attention, etc) and, frankly are safer there than on the road with the rest of us.

last year was my first winter with the truck and I quickly came to that decision. Saw guys using ratchet straps though and got kind of scared but I was not on the right side to at least offer the use of a proper strap

Only time I've ever pulled people during snow was a head on accident on a steep hill. Pulled both vehicles out of the road after the cop came sliding down the hill and side swiped one and ended up in the ditch on the other side

Could be the most wise financial decision you ever make, just drive on by.

Edit: I'm not saying to not stop and make sure she's OK, but I wouldn't tow her car out either.

Yepp 100% why I don't stop to pull someone out other than to make sure they're okay. My old coworker helped a chick out and the front bumper ripped off the ice bank she was on. She tried to take him to court for "damages" as she called them.

I'll offer my traction boards and a shovel/me pushing but that's it. I am not strapping up to anyone stuck in the snow. Plus, if you're stuck in and around Providence, you're beyond help

Dipshit buddy got stuck in a snowbank and guy in a Jeep hooked up and pulled him out. Dipshit buddy had in reverse and when he got traction promptly backed into Jeep caving in dipshit buddy's rear bumper.

Few days later I was grabbing a coffee and overheard a guy talking about pulling somebody out and promptly getting backed into.

    "Yellow Fiesta?"
    "Yep, fucking dipshit"
