I have a 2017 Tacoma Trd sport 4x4 manual transmission and I’ve had a code p0607 check engine light and traction control light on the past few days. This code is for the pcm has anyone else had this problem?

It's a non-Toyota specific error code for the PCM(engine computer).

is the truck doing anything weird?

I would clear and it see if it comes back. If the same code appears I would have someone diag it who has the proper scan tool.

What have you changed out or installed?

You always can remove battery negative for 15+ minutes and give it a go after.

I had to put a new battery in it yesterday, the one that was in it was going bad and I was hoping that the batter was the cause of the CEL but it wasn’t left the battery unhooked for about 20 minutes hoping that would clear it out but it didn’t other than that nothing has been done to the computer system in the truck

Same happened to me. The CEL and trac off usually come up as a pair. I scanned my codes but it said bad crank position sensor. When I saw what was involved, I started looking closely and noticed rodent debris in places. Found that a mouse had chewed on wiring harnesses causing the fault.

Not saying that’s what happened in your case, but Im glad I didn’t start replacing parts as that wouldnt have helped. Sometimes getting a proper diag will save you time and $$.

That’s what I’ll probably end up doing I’m just trying to see if anyone else has had this problem seems like the truck is too new for it to already be having computer issues

It is known that there was a batch of bad cam position sensors on the '16 and some '17.

Bring it to a competent Toyota mechanic of your choice, don't point, blame, and throw parts until you have a proper diagnosis.
https://www.yourmechanic.com/articl...t the P0607 code means,to do its job properly.
