Hey I was wondering if anyone had a rear window latch for sale or knew where to get one. I have a 1997 Tacoma LX V6 Xtra cab. The guy I bought it from had it broke into and therefore there is no latch. As far as I know the latches are different between the LX edition and the SR5 edition. Any info will help thanks.

Bud for parts like that you are best served to stop by your local dealer and order it.

Agreed and you can order just the side of the latch you need. I had to do this on my 96, it was like 12 bucks for the part but worth it knowing you can latch the window.

You might check with the glass company's that are near a dealer they might have something laying around for cheap.

I just noticed you are in Elco. I will be in Reno on the 22nd so if you need me to I can swing by the dealer and send it to you. I don't know if you have a Toyota dealer out there. Let me know.

CRL is making a metal replacement latch for Tacos (among others) that should prove more durable than the factory plastic one. I haven't seen one in hand, but I'm going to gamble and order one of these. CRL doesn't sell direct to the public, but here's an eBay vendor I found with them (link). The DVL5 is the model for the 95-01 Tacoma.

I'm ordering one today. I'll post back when I get it with an opinion....

BTW - I'm brand new here, I found this forum while looking for a latch :)

My 98 tacoma had a missing latch. I ordered the latch from "discounttoyotaparts.com". They should help.

Did you end up getting the latch? I just bought a Tacoma and the latch is busted. The dealer wants about $27 for part of it. This would be a little cheaper and include everything.

Did you ever order that metal latch? I'm in the same boat and scoff at the plastic design. Metal would be good.

I need one also. I tried on rockauto.com, discounttoyotaparts.com, and there's one old used on on ebay the seller wants $39.00 for. I guess I'll try the dealer tomorrow.

Just a thought, but check with the recently wrecked taco owners on here, I know of 2 in the past 2 weeks... chances are they'd be glad to sell you theirs...
