Convection ovens are awesome! Especially when cooking pizza or needing to brown something in the oven.

Just remember that for convection ovens, you have to subtract 25° F from the conventional oven temp.

I take it as a challenge, like angel food cake, took me a few tries to get it right but the end result was great! I keep at it till i get the right recipe and it turns out to my liking.

Yea I tried it out last weekend and it seemed to do well.

I plan on taking out the old cooktop and replacing it with a conventional stove. But, it looks like I'm keeping the convection oven. My kitchen is gonna be some heckuva setup

EDIT: And my 100amp electrical service overloaded

More Than You Ever Wanted To Know About Trap... With Gritto

...though I gots plenty more if the occasion arises

    27 yards from the trap.
To that, add on how far the bird travels before you bust it.
A fast 23 yard handicap shooter can smoke the bird at ~40 yards... which is pretty damn far for a shotgun.
You may be surprised to know that most 27 yard shooters can also take the target at 40 yards... for 2 reasons.
First, the further back you go the shallower the relative angles... and second, those guys are just better

Trap is THE long range shotgun game.
Handicap is a full choke deal.

Help me out here, @Squirt :)

Men's handicap goes from 20-27 yards.
IIRC, for women it's 19-27 and for youths, 18-27.
The rules sometimes varied between ATA and local leagues, and for all I know have seen some changes since I was an active trapshooter..
Post a good score sometime, and you're gonna get punched a yard or so and will have to move back next time.
In the ATA, you may get a half yard punch, which only moves you back a yard when you get another.
(Handicap yardage is marked off in one yard increments).
Squads are made up of shooters separated by no more than a 2 yard difference in positions (for safety).

A helluva lot of nonsense has been written about full choke and even more has been passed on by word of mouth.
There is no standard definition, but generally one can say it's about 75-80% of the pellets in a shell grouping in a nominal 30 inch circle at 40 yards.

Realistically, only the 24 inch core is reliably effective, the fringes being patchy.
If you take a walk out front of the trap houses at a trap range and pick up unbroken targets, you'll find many will have a small hole or two (or more) in them.
Those were scored as misses or "lost birds".
So thinking that a looser pattern is gonna help you is wishful thinking.

A full choke pattern is at least partly dependent on velocity and the hardness (antimony content) of the pellets.
So sometimes you may get full choke performance from, say, an improved modified or even a modified choke.
It's also quite possible to "overchoke", which leads to clumpy patterns with big gaps or even blown patterns, rather than smoothly distributed coverage
Regardless of the markings on a choke, only the pattern board knows for sure.

Now, everyone also has to shoot from the 16 yard line.
That's called shooting 16s or singles, and that part of the program invariably precedes handicap or "caps".
You can get away with shooting modified choke there if you're fairly quick.
But fringy, crumbly hits don't help you get better.
You wanna center the pattern and smoke that target.

    Little known fact:
Pennsylvania has more trap ranges than any other state, by far.
This is because, not surprisingly, there are more small not-for-profit sportsman's clubs here as well.

Me at 27 yard handicap, about 12 years ago:

I only did one ATA shoot sadly but have scored and loaded houses too many to count.

Yeah those guys are just a tad better if they regularly shoot at 27:rolleyes::laugh:

Just about all the guys I've scored for never really were worried about the distance but were more looking for getting the most points of the competition.

    For "safety"
Most of these guys out here (I included) shoot side by side with no problem. We've had people lined up from the one side to the other at 27yrds playing knockout. I've won a game by getting 3 people out at once:cool:

Yeah I've seen a bunch with the hole or two punched through.

I still need to pattern my guns. Many of the guys have told me that you can take 2 matching chokes and they will both pattern differently.

I love watching clay's get shot out of the sky from inside the house. It's kinda fun :)

Pennsylvania might have the most but IL has The Grand!:cool::cool:
