I mean.. he willingly bought a yellow Fiesta. The Jeep owner, knowing this, still hooked on, he sort of had it coming...

That movie is coming closer and closer to reality.

I do love that movie. Mike Judge is one funny guy.

Yo I will take it. The original was way underrated. Also looking forward to new futurama eventually too.

So in some exciting, well, exciting for me, the Jeep is off jack stands and the test drive to Wendy’s (celebration Wendy’s?) yields no noise, no clunk and otherwise boring transportation. I’ll take that as a win.

I was excited that the Jeep dealer appears to charge under MSRP for parts through the parts counter. It’s a welcome change from Copeland who usually charges 50% more than MSRP. I’ve only gone there when I’ve had a birthday gift card or a good coupon. Sullivan in Kingston does order pickup like Boch South did without the surcharge and charges under MSRP. I had a moment of fear when I noticed Mopar redesigned the caliper bracket slightly so I was worried I had the wrong one, but it looks like they just made it beefier which is somewhat surprising. Interestingly enough the instructions for the caliper slide pins / mounts say not to lubricate the pins prior to install. A quick search shows that at some point a TSB was released with new pins and no grease. I know I lightly greased the original pins during my install, so who knows what happens here. If they weren’t greased from the factory…I dunno.

Lastly, after seeing what the correct torque was on the caliper mounts holy **** was I CRANKING on those bolts prior to the hole blowing out. Lesson learned.

I’ll take the Jeep to work tomorrow and make sure all is well before handing it back off. I’m sure my wife is ready to give back my Mom’s Forester. I know there’s a lot of Jeep haters here, but the GC is a nice riding vehicle, especially compared to the much tinnier feeling Forester.
