    Probably at work.

0 should make them poke a bit
More offset than that you will have to cut more out if the fenders and cab mounts

I’ll assume you’re lifting the truck. 285s won’t fit on a stock truck. You can make them fit with sawzall.

17x8 0 offset is the easiest and least amount of trimming. 17x8.5 -10 looks good but a bit more trimming. Also recommend getting uca’s to help with alignment specs and will you the ability to play with caster to help clearance.

There many choices. I personally run JBAs and have zero complaints, there is also SPC which a lot of guys run due to the fact they’re adjustable(some alignment guys have issue getting them set correctly) of all the brands those are the two I’d recommend going with.

17X8 with 0 offset is a good choice. 17x8.5 with 0 offset is as well and will open up more selection.

This is what SCS wheels 17x8.5 with -10 offset look like with 285s, about an inch of poke.

I thought that if you have wheels with -10 offset.. less chance of rubbing without cutting?

Zero offset is your best bet for the least amount of trimming.

Thanks .. but now I’m even more confused .. I
Thought that if it was negative offset .. it’ll
    Be farther away from
And less chance of rubbing !

You need enough offset to get things out of the uca and hardware. But the more offset (the lower the number), the more space the wheel takes up forward and backward in the wheel well during a turn. The backward space is where Tacomas really struggle.

When you turn your steering wheel the arc your wheels turn on isn't centered on the wheel. Instead the center is much close to the ball joints. The further out you push things (with negative offset) the wider the arc during turning. The resulting wide arc rubs the front or rear of the wheel well during full lock and or suspension compression.

So you want enough offset to clear the metal bits while rotating but not so much that you need to cut metal bits off to turn without rubbing. 0 seems to be the sweet spot? Each truck and each alignment varies and it makes research based on anecdotes maddening.

I'm sorry if that feels like confusing word salad. YouTube for 4wd steering geometry and get a video version. No specific video in mind but it has to be better than what I can do with text.

Anytime you start to move if the wheel out or -offset the scrub radius of the tire changes(arc of the tire as it move in and out of the fender well basically) it will rub things like the mud flap, fender flair, body mount. 0 offset is the happy medium.
