I absolutely would if I lived there, what a nightmare! The very mild chemical treatments of Colorado makes FF super effective - the Midwest/NE seemingly hate cars and wish them to all die ASAP

To change brake pads on a winter car here you just buy all new calipers, pins, bolts and rotors. You have to pound the sockets onto what's left of the bolts and hope they turn.

I store my challenger and BMW for winter in the garage (Yes the challenger has a cover too, its just not pictured)

 

Lol your S10 has lasted 20 years. What time frame are you looking to get? 75 years?

 

My Trans Am is stored away 11 months of the year. It’s being stored in Michigan.





I will absolutely drive it a whole lot more when I bring it down to North Carolina. It’s being looked after by a friend in Michigan. My hometown is Mooresville, North Carolina

 

The brine they use on the roads where i'm at, is like pouring hydrochloric acid on your frame.

 

My brothers 77 trans am thats very similar is run once a few miles a month from april to october, otherwise its stored all winter here in connecticut.

 

This is what my truck sits in for 3 months each year, it's the TITS (Tacoma In The Salt)



Snow is the reason I got into 4WD. Was driving a FWD sedan and got sick of getting stuck in the work parking lot.

 

My S10 lasted 23 years and is still going because it spent the first 12 years parked in the winter while I drove a beater. Then I put a new body on it in 2020.
It rusted to the ground and I got a Tennessee sonoma to do the body swap.

And yes, I want 75 years out of my Tacoma. Dammit!

When I was younger I got a new Chevy. I wanted it to last forever. I had it six months and it got totalled. Hit in the ass by a dump truck and pushed into an intersection where it got hit in the side. I did not have a scratch on me. Learned then and there that nothing lasts like you want.

 

Yep, but being stubborn and not very bright I just keep trying!

I’d love to be in the US for that. You can probably keep your vehicles for 20-30 years, except if you wreck them, of course. Maybe there are more opportunities to wreck them, because with nicer weather, comes more places to offroad all year long.

Over here, it’s natural to rust proof your daily drivers and hope for the best. Usually, rust should not show before at least 5 years. You can expect to keep the vehicle for 15 to 20 years. That’s probably the max. My oldest one was a 1996 Corolla that I kept for 15 years and 300,000km. It hurts, but that’s the reality in Canada.

So my Tacoma will be daily driven in the salt, so be it. I’ll make sure to enjoy every bit of it.

 

100% I would store and it drive a beater if I lived where it snows.

 

It sorta blows my mind people are storing Tacomas.

 

Both the Tacoma and BRZ are out full time in winter for us. Only vehicle I ever stored was a E46 ZHP for a couple winters. It's a bit of a PITA to deal with storing things unless you have 3 + car garage.

 

I look forward to winter trail rides. Kinda fun daily driving it, too. Frequent trips through carwash with undercarriage flush is enough. It's a Toyota truck, not a Ferrari - drive it and enjoy.

 

Most people don't even change there oil on time, you think every one in the rust belt FF there cars? I live there and they don't, 99.9% have never heard of fluid film or rust prevention of any kind, besides the dealer applied undercoat that generally accelerates the rust process. My dad got a new truck in 2020 and I haven't been able to convince him he NEEDS rust prevention.
