Yeah I got 10 years on you and I’m the same. Just keep pushing it off and spending the money on kids wife house or whatever. I just need to buy myself a nice thanksgiving present. (That’s a thing isn’t it?)

Great thread. Has me debating now on to with 75s over 70s. I have a set of 17" TRD Pro 4Runner rims that I am looking to switch over from the TRD Pro 16s that are on it now. I have the clearance in the front with the ARB bumper that is on the truck but on the back end of the wheel well in the fender is where I forsee any contact. Looks like the previous owner did do something for clearance already but wanted to get your opinions on if you think I will need to cut or hammer out some more. These are of the driver's side wheel well. Looks like lots of room when the tires are straight but gets closer when turned. I'll see if I can get a pic of that.

Safe bet i'd say you need to do a CMC/CMR + Pinch welds, also maybe additional plastic trimming in the fenders

Clean! Like the new design pro wheel over the older one. Nice sliders too.

Little rub on the plastic but to be expected. All in all they’re good.

Installed new rims (TRD Pro 4Runner wheels, matte black) and tires (BFG KO2 285/75/17) and glad that I went with this size. Looks great, perfect like this thread says! Didn't have to cut anymore than what was already done by the previous owner. Have a finger amount of space between the tire and swaybar and frame and no contact with the UCAs. Happy that I went with the 75s instead of the 70s. Was on the fence lol

(Will be selling the old set of rims/tires if anyone is interested, PM me:))

I really like 285/75/17’s but 35’s might be a better for the DCLB’s

Can anyone provide experience with interstate driving with stock gears on 285/75's? Will it do 80mph+ without too much strain?
    Thanks!

Looks great! Can you (or anyone else) measure the actual mounted diameter of the KO2s? I haven't been able to find a real-world measurement (it's been my experience that the KO2s tend to run small compared to the manufacturer specs).

Stock gears, i have no problems doing 80mph+ on flat ground

However, if theres an incline or a strong headwind, its back into 4th and cruising at 70

Its really only in the mountains that i have to leave it in 4th.

My BFG KO2's (285/75/17) on 17x8.5 wheels inflated to 25psi on truck and on the ground the height came out to 33.4-33.5" Remember this size only comes in "E" load rating I run them at 25psi on the road. At 25 the outer tread block have slightly less contact then the rest of the tire but are in full contact at 23psi. I have 5-6k on them and are wearing even.
