Hey any help is appreciated, I need the truck to get to work in the morning.

    Details:

    2011 V6 4x4 manual
    Daily driven
Parked in my driveway facing slightly downhill forwards
    Did not get freezing temperatures

    parking brake will not disengage!

tried driving it forward and reverse, 2hi and 4hi, working the brake pedal and e-brake handle - nothing

edit: also tried banging on the brake drums with a hammer to see if I could knock it loose to no avail

Grab ahold of the brake cables by the rear end and yank on them back and forth like a dozen times on each side. Then do it towards the body. Make sure the e brake pedal is all the way up manually

I’ll give it a try thanks, trying to tell visually which is cable vs brake lines, unless the cable is exposed that should be easy to identify

Cables come from the backing plates by the springs and forward. Biggest black cables.

My would do that after I washed it and leave it sit with the ebrake on. It was normally the right rear drum. Most of the time I would be able to use a breaker bar and hit it with a hammer to knock it loose. One time I had to jack up the rear ended and remove the tire then, hit the drum before it would pop loose.

damn, that is crazy! The parking brake did this once last winter, but that was a wet day, followed by a single digit night, so I was not surprised at all, I should’ve just used wheel chocks at night! This is worrying, though, what should I do going forward? Just spray the entire cable with PB blaster?

Thanks, yeah, the right rear tire was spinning so it was only the drivers rear that was stuck… You think that means that one side is broken?

Can’t say exactly what got it unstock, I sprayed PB blaster right onto the cables, where they are exposed at the backing plate, and I yanked on the cables in all directions right near where they attach to the rear wheels, and right when it drops out of the cabinet in the front and tried it again, and I came unstock

Take the top of the console apart to access the end of the cables. Put a shop rag under the cables.
Hit the e brake. Drip 4 or 5 drops of atf, marvel mystery oil, or similar. Work the shirt out of the e brake pedal. Pull on the cables,,,, repeat. Like 30 times each time…

    Spraying the outside does nothing.

I see U live in Rhode Island - I'm in NJ so lots of salt like U I'm sure - mine bound up where the cable went into the drum - I replaced both - one with aftermarket because It was the one that was hung up and I was in a hurry the other I did later with OEM - OEM heavy duty compared to after market - I'd highly recommend OEM

No of course not, I mean though that I sprayed directly on to the cables where they are exposed with a penetrating lubricant that ostensibly should creep in to where it’s needed
