Wind noise

Any idea how to go about fixing excessive wind noise?

The drivers sides gets pretty loud at 70-80, but the worst is the back passenger side door - its hard to have a conversation at highway speeds without raising your voice considerably.

The door seals all seem fine.

The interior plastic near the back seat belt doesn't snap quite in place - is there something behind that that allows outside air in?

This truck was in an accident, so maybe things aren't quite lined up. It's fine when I'm by myself, just turn the radio up, but it sucks with a passenger.

 

Pool noodle is whatcha' need. It's a simple & cheap way to fix it. You can also put a rubber seal/gasket around the door openings.

 

Pool noodle in the door, or somewhere in the back panel?

 

Sorry for not clarifying. The noodle goes between the bed of the truck and the cab, you have to wedge it in there.

Is your issue a whistling noise? or just excessive road noise?

If the former, the door seal trick as linked above should fix it. If the latter...well there's not much you can do besides change to a less aggressive tire, or add in some sound deadening.

There are a couple vents in the rear wall that would allow air/noise in, but that should be minimally affecting it. The trucks in general are just noisy. It's near impossible to have a conversation with anyone who doesn't actively project their voice in mine. I do have sound deadening, but also aggressive M/T tires. just part of the experience of owning a 2G Taco

 

Its excessive wind noise - not the whistling that some have had. I do have sound deadening in the doors and the back wall. The back right door is the worst, it almost sounds like the window it open a crack, its so loud. I ordered a new door seal, and will try the pool noodle.
