My wife told me before I left this morning she saw a guy go by (about 6:42) she said wonder where he's going? I said hunting, he's scared of the dark. Sunrise is 6:58 this morning and we can shoot 30 minutes before. I always look at sunrise and try to be an hour earlier than that, in the stand. I've seen him going by late like that before and also leaving when I think it's perfect time to shoot one. Not sure what he's scared of, if something's gonna eat you it doesn't care if it's light or dark :anonymous:

I mean...it can be spooky out there :anonymous: but then I think....hey, I'm the baddest predator in these parts, can't nothing mess with me. Then I hear a twig snap and I'm like

Opening morning of muzzle loader I'm walking in with no flashlight and halfway there I get to thinking "wonder if that bear I got pictures of last year is still around"

The worst thing is turkeys coming off the roost in the dark!!

I've seen 1 while driving to work early one morning, then we heard one when we met up after hunting one night. When you hear one when you're up on the mountain, cloudy, no moon, and it's hard to see 15 yards without a flashlight, it will make the hair on your arms and neck stand up. I never go into the mountain without a gun anymore.

It's been a real slow year with deer sighting. Behind my property is 120 acres of deer bedding area. Across the road from me is a corn field. That field normally doesn't get cut until late in the year. Normally I see lots of deer. There is also a corn field on the other side of the bedding area. That corn is still up.
    Just being patient.
Our gun deer season starts on Saturday. I'm ready to go, just got to make the coffee and fill the thermos. Hopefully I can break in the new elevated blind early on opening day.

    Congratulations

I know people that bowhunt Northern Wisconsin and they carry a handgun. Just in case they run into wolf's.

I carry all the time anyway and have always carried in case I needed to finish a deer off. They've changed our laws where we can shoot a deer with basically any pistol, not that I would. I shot one once with a .44 magnum and decided that was enough with a pistol. We got coyotes everywhere, they don't really bother people though...but...just in case :D

Dan i also carry when on bow or muzzle hunts or just out tromping. always have for such situations and like rabies, snakes coyotes and unfortunetly 2 legged vermin in the mountains as its isolated and sometimes bad people around because its isolated. also people have issues with aggressive coyotes once in awhile:thumbsup:
