1) i can't remember but i remember it being in line for both characters. subtitles help here. ;P I always watch with subs. hah! I'm one of tHOSE people.
2) so...the prison system had someone finish their sentence. but instead of releasing them, they "accidentally" moved the person to level 2. It became clear that this was semi-done on purpose and the prisoners were never really goign to finish their sentences. The prisoner should've either been killed or moved somewhere else entirely and so the guards super fried everyone in the hallway. all 100 of them. to get rid of the secret. The prison system doesn't actually care about your sentence, mroe about your productivity and when they can get rid of you after your labor.

 

Alright, I have one gripe that's been bugging me for the last few episodes.

Anyone else notice how human-centric this universe is, and how all other species are a shoehorned afterthought at best? Even the galactic senate scenes. I can't tell you why, but it very oddly has pulled me away from the star wars feel that it's supposed to have. Unless everyone gets sent to their own different work prison, and that has some very different connotations.

 

May have been too much money to add more aliens. I bet this point will be brought up after and then they'll give a reason. I say budget concerns

 

I watched a video that supported the speciesist focus of the prison. It simplifies environmental management, care, and feeding. Separation by climate and diet is cheaper to manage and maintain in the long run.

Also, consider the empire as a whole, and think about how few non-humans rose to prominence within it. They're speciesist as fuck (intergalactic racists). To the empire, all other species are beneath them.

 

yeah, i mean...Saw even mentions "human cultists"...whatever that means but that sounds super speciesist.

humans are probably the easiest from a series production standpoint for budget and time constraints but also, what @CaptAmerica said...simplification from a lore perspective of prison management. sounds a bit dismissive from a lore/fantasy perspective but it also sounds reasonable for the empire.

 

So when The Expanse was being released on Prime, it was always mm/dd 00:01 GMT. It made planning to watch so simple. It was also 8 pm EST the day before…

DUDE. NO JOKE! Best episode thus far! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

 

I went back a few episodes when Cassian was first imprisoned at Nakina 5. I counted 7 facilities poking out of the lake. When they were flying in, the surrounding land was as desolate as a class M moon can be.

Did they cut comms to the other facilities quick enough?

Where are they running to?

Really looking forward to see Ep 11.

 

Yeeesh what an episode holy hell! So much action in this one, will be re watching it again soon. Really really really glad this wasn't the end of the season. I want to know what happens next.

I also am liking the Mon Mothma scenes, not sure why because not much is really happening but it's just put together well. I guess it's just a little bit of the political aspect and creating a coup, gives me GoT vibes since everybody is sort of scheming things idk

 

who knows. maybe the imperials are so stuck in their ways that they don't communicate with the other facilities? 7 facilities makes sense. 7 people per table, 7 tables, 7 rooms. 7 floors. 7 facilities. on narkina 5. lolol. something about 7. i mean, they're talking about a prison population of about 35000 in all.

I'm curious how they get off the planet as well. It's super open ended. and i want more Kino screentime! too bad they just had to leave. hahah.

the mon mothma scenes are just as good as the cassian action scenes. I think it's because they know how to set up the political intrigue. and the double talk in the meaning of their dialogues goes way beyodn the surface, which is politics. Also, the actress is doing an AMAZING job.
the entire quality of this show is just entirely next level. I've said it to a few people but put Tony Gilroy in charge of more!

I was glad this wasn't the end but I also wouldn't have been entirely angry if it were. Cassian had met Melshi, escaped, Mon was setting things up, and Luthen had his monologue to show himself. but i'm still glad there are 2 more episodes.

 

Anyone else, in retrospect, tie in the offer to Mon and Luthern’s rant to Lonny about sacrifices??? Some of the most powerful drama out there nowadays..

strong themes of sacrifices and prisons.

Lonni is in his own prison from both ends, makes you feel for him. Luthen's prison and sacrifice is his own life and using the tools of his enemies. Mon's is political and the potential sacrifice of her family for the rebellion. Andor's obvious prison and sacrifice of everything else to live a normal life with money. You even have Vel with her own prison/sacrifice with her relationship with cinta. This is so dramatic and poetic.

 

Mon weighing having to essentially "sell" her daughter to a crime lord is some heavy shit. It makes the future scenes where she's this strategic commander take on a new light.

While I'm certain her husband isn't going to follow her into the rebellion...what happens to her daughter?

The empire was anti alien, the emperor especially. The Star Wars universe is predominantly human. They were just speciesist

 

The set-up for the finale…oh man.

 

If anyone complains about lack of Aliens after E11, they're malcontents...
