I'm not one to run a tire down to the last legal 1/32" of tread. I replaced a set of Cooper AT3's with 55,000 miles on them. They would have probably been legal at 60,000. But any tire with less than 1/2 of its original tread is going to give you noticeably less traction compared to when that tire was new. Especially in rain, snow, or mud.

That doesn't mean it's dangerous, but any tire with over 40,000 miles on it is at a disadvantage. I'm not sure I want a 70,000-mile tire, especially if I were paying a lot more for it than a 50,000-mile tire. I'd be driving it a long time with marginal tread.

I’m from seattle. And we have a lot of guys running KO2s. I run KO2. But I’m hearing of a lot of people switching to falken wildpeak AT3w, for their rain/snow performance.

We been getting 50-60k out of KO2s.

I think all the above tires are good...Just comes down to how you will use them and what your budget allows.

K02 are garbage after 30k miles.

I've had cooper discoverer AT3 4S, Falken Wildpeaks and Toyo Open Country.
Cooper > Toyo > Falken IMO. Currently have about 5k miles on the Coopers and they are my favorite AT so far. Capable and quiet.

I've run several sets of LTX M/S over the years on various trucks and suv's and they always dry rot before I can get any decent mileage from them. BFG/Michelin are the same company.

I really like the Toyo Open Country AT3's.

I have BFG K02s on both my Tacoma and Cherokee and really like them a lot. The K02s on my Cherokee has about 42k miles and still have a lot of thread left on them. I do make sure to rotate them every 5k miles also to get the best wear on them. And in my opinion they handle really well on and off-road. I could definitely see them lasting close to 60k.

You have already answered your question. For 99% of people the Michelin is going to be the best tire you can get bar none. . . . . especially if your 99% highway. Don't let there less aggressive look fool you, they perform very well off-road with some obvious exceptions. I like the looks of the Coopers and have considered them, but 2 people I know that have had them on their 1/2 trucks hated them and said they were terrible in slippery or greasy snow conditions.

Love them but they get real noisy after 40K or so.

Michelin LTX M/S2 for the win. No reason to look tough, when you know you are tough.

Michelin LTX/MS Defenders. I go straight from the dealer to the Michelin dealer. Have them on our '22 4R-4WD, and will put them on our new Tacoma OR, be here 3rd week December. If you are planning on real mountain driving, I would use a tire for that application.

Lot of experience with the 4R's, best to get to a tire retailer that does Hunter Road Force and lug centric balancing using the Hawkeye adapter. The guy on the machine is the key.
