    Hey all,
Today my truck completely stalled and died on me. The gas level was still high enough that the yellow indicator light had still not come on yet. I had it towed to the gas station, put in 50 bucks and it started right up. It is still idling a bit low but it looks like it’s idling at 500 when in drive with foot on brake. What do you guys think it is? Weak fuel pump? What should I do? Thank you!

Bad float in the tank? Thinking there is more in the tank than there actually is

Don't let it get much below a quarter of a tank, and don't worry about it.

fill it up to the click...you know you get 18-20mpg...when you hit 360 look at the fuel...and then 380 look at the fuel...The light for my 2nd gen turns on around 350-365 with conservative highway driving...
Figure out how much you're putting in and back calculate the volume you SHOULD have been showing..

I bet it's that bad float

Why would you let it get that low? Why would you wait for the yellow light to come on? Makes no sense. As others have said don’t let it go below a quarter tank before you put gas in. Problem solved.
I also think likely something todo with the float

The fuel pump is likely fine, it's your sending unit. My 2006 has no fuel by the time it shows 1/4 tank. It's pretty common, here's a video that shows how to test and replace without having to replace the entire fuel pump.

When it gets that low the remaining fuel will move to one end of the tank when driving up, or down, hills. And the fuel pump may not be able to get any fuel. One of many reasons not to let the fuel get that low.
