Thanks for the suggestion Ryan! I'm still not 100% sure what happened but one problem is that I feel I lowered my PSI too low. I won't go below 20 from now on...at least that is my plan. Looks like a good time in Cascade!!!

What load range tire are you on? Any tires I've had don't deflect much until I'm in the 15psi area.

Well I got a working winch again… kinda i gotta gut the wireless receiver out of my old box and stuff it in the new control box. But hey I at least have a working wired winch.

I need to replace the plug on mine and hope that's my issue. Glad you figured it out on yours.

Yeah the only place I was getting power in the old control box was where it came into the box so I just got a new box and swapped it all out. I knew there was a chance the remote and the wireless receiver were not paired and universal but I was wrong…

What winch do you have cause if yours is a smittybilt we can test your plug with my remote and I got an extra controller we can steal the plug from. I’m sure they are all universal across smittybilt.

It's a Smittybilt. I can see a pin broke off in the plug and I hope that's the issue. It could be internal and have the broke pin so we will see. Do you have the old plug from the old box?

I normally run them at around 36psi daily. I believe it is max load of 80psi

I've never run that tire but I'd assume its a pretty similar construction to what I've run. I've put thousands of miles aired down to 15 or less and only once have I pulled the bead and that was winching in deep snow with the wheel turned the wrong way. Carry a spare just in case but I highly doubt you'll have the problem again.

Good to know Ryan. I'm definitely going to be carrying a spare with me lol

Good advice for the spare. Makes life much better as long as you check that it is aired up and roadworthy. Generally I agree that 15 should be acceptable, I also know the side loading when bombing through ruts isn't a small force. You certainly have more experience than me, so I'm not arguing against the advice. Running at 15 (or lower) is incredible, although if you're new to this it may be intimidating and might involve more work that could be a turn off (even though roadblock has already surmounted the challenge). A stuck valve seems highly probable for his situation, and so does the tire "burping" air going through ruts of snow and mud.

My truck was consistently getting 22-23mpg's after my CVC tune this summer/fall. Since the cold weather/winter gas? It's dropped down to 15mpgs. Is there anything I should check? Or is the cold/winter gas THAT bad? Tires are inflated to 38/40psi (up from 36) for winter.

We are letting it idle in the AM to warm up, could that be a factor?

Winter gas and warming up in the morning will drop it but I don’t think that bad, I usually only drop about 1-2 in the winter

Warming up in closed loop will drink plenty of fuel. Combined with winter gas blends it doesn't seem unreasonable. To really check though, try a week of no warm ups (try next week when it's not so darn cold). Just get in and go. Check your fuel mileage at the end of the week and see if your numbers don't improve.

    Thanks Ben! I'll try that.

The only other thing that's changed is I put in a K&N air filter. I'm assuming that has nothing to do with gas mileage..

And don’t worry about it damaging the engine, lot of manufacturers just recommend light driving to bring the engine up to temperature. I wouldn’t hop on the interstate right away but driving out of your neighbourhood and to the road should be enough to get up to temp.
