Farther aft then the rear axle can possibly increase the chance of sliding sideways in a stop when turning. Placing them Right over the axle is preferred.

I have a Leer shell, but other than that I do not. Usually due to other things being back there that I would rather not get damaged and typically I'm only on snow for skiing or the occasional snowventure, but I've done it enough times to know when to turn around. Interesting thing, last camping trip my buddy and I went on we scouted out a spot that we wanted to go but I deemed it inaccessible (unless you wanted to dig yourself through as it was roughly 20in at the deepest spot in the shade) so we set up camp just before it in a different spot. About 20 min later a Jeep and a 4runner come through and immediately the jeep gets stuck and they spend roughly an hour getting it shoveled out to continue on.

I have never put weight in my bed during the winter but probably should. When it’s icy it can get squirrelly. All I have is a 120lb Alucab shell which probably doesn’t do much.

Unless we’re going to the mountains though and I expect deep snow I’d rather drive the wife’s Mach E. Crazy what 1100lbs of batteries a few inches off the ground will do for your handling.

No... I currently have a long bed Ram w/ cummins (can get real squirrely in the rear) and my Tacoma and I've never loaded up either of them. Same will the past vehicles I've owned. I just use the driver mod when driving in shotty conditions but sand bags wouldn't be a bad idea.

Last year was my first winter here, but the only times I was out when it was snowing on the roads to any concerning level was heading to go snowboard and with 4 peoples gear and 4 people in the truck it felt fine. The worst conditions I drive in, It was abt an hour after 80 opened back up last December when those power lines went down and there was all that wind. 45-50 mph in 4 high and no sudden movements and I didn’t slip once.

I also blanked on my bed cover being about 50-60 pounds extra that’s on there all the time unless I’m goin to ride my bike

    It's coming together!
I just have a spare in my bed and don't drive like I'm from CA and all is good :) Though when it's icy AF I take my wife's limited t4r with the full time 4wd and Cooper discovery AT. That thing is amazing in shitty weather.

Send me a note, maybe we can meet up. Depending on your plans, I may have some extra tickets to events also.

Anyone hear what was going on around 4:45pm on South 580? Saw about a 1/2 dozen NHP cars flying down there while on the 580 bypass.

Does anyone know of a place in the Reno area that can do professional wiring on my truck?

What are you trying to do? New wiring harness or are you adding electronic accessories?

Maybe check with Silver State Offroad. I haven't personally used them but I've heard good things about them.

@la0d0g when you did the CMC did you do it with a plasma cutter or did you use a grinder? I need to do mine asap and not sure if the grinder will do it.

A grinder will do it. I used a cheap HF grinder with 4" metal cutoff disc when I chopped mine.

What kind of switch panel? If you’re going with a Switch Pro or something like that then DIY is very simple. You don’t have to worry about relays or switch wiring or anything. Essentially just running a positive and negative into the engine bay for each light.

Not 100% sure yet. I'm an idiot when it comes to anything electrical so I rather take it into a shop lol
