I ran a small 6 fuse slot circuit that has 4 Key on Hot and 2 Constant Hot.

Had already upgraded wiring from an ALT upgrade. But be sure to upgrade Cab to battery ground, and engine block to Cab ground so you have nice clean low resistant paths.

That's a good spot. Not much room to mount stuff under the dash let alone wire stuff up to a block if you're able to fit anything up there.
I have seen some do distribution points mounted in the glovebox.

What's the big black box? Also any reason to not bring the main power from the grommet thats coming in from under the seat? Looks like it's coming via firewall?

 

Black box is the fuse block, weatherproof version comes with a cover. Took that option since half doors and mud gets in but okay now since the vinyl flooring. Wanted to make the interior more water resistant.

When I redid the flooring I followed the factory wiring underneath the plastic door sill plates to route the wiring. So can still access it via the sill plates but out of the way from everything else. Didn't go through the floor since that was one of the areas I found water leaks. Replaced all the floor grommets and ones for the rear lighting/fuel system and o2 sensor used seam sealer before laying down the sound deadener.

latest for me is the supercharger, 2.7 96 base model. 330,000 miles. supercharger made it peppy but it is still a 4 cylinder. hydrodipped interior, new head around the 300,000 area. fenderflares were the hardest, supercharger was actually fun. header few years back, but i do have a thang for it. short thro shifter, new injectors couple years back. but probably never get what its actually got in it, out of it, if something happens. whats weird is i put supercharged on each side and now everybody wants me to know their quicker i guess. i wanted to stay in 5th a little more. regearing is something im pondering for near future. thats what ive done lately

Got some parts in today. Thought this was funny, ordered Aisin parts from Rockauto and they both came with "Toyota" etched out. Dealer wanted $500 for the timing cover! Now just gotta find a way to put this whole thing back together...

Funny you say that installing the fender flares was harder than installing a supercharger. Tightening up some of those bolts on the bottom side of the intake were a pita

 

Kinda hoping Solo does a Black Friday sale so I can snag them LCAs but as it gets closer…seems less likely

So you pulled the waterproof block and are only running the blue sea now? Or do you still have the weatherproof block in there too?

 

Both, Weatherproof block is a "hub" that provides Key On power via the relay next to it from the factory interior fuse panel and 12v fulltime from the battery with just a Pos and Neg wire. Normally you will see installs where each circuit would need a factory tap that's hot on Key On. (Ex. tap into ignition or cigarette lighter)
But this Block allows 1 wire to give (4) circuits this ability.
The Blue Sea panel is not the typical one you see, its a distribution panel that doesn't share circuit paths with any other. This allows to isolate Fulltime Power and Key On power and the slots be right next to each other. Main reason is it keeps the wiring inside for interior accessories inside vs running more wires through the firewall. And gives fuse circuit redundancy since it'll be more subject to water and elements exposed inside the cab when the doors are off. Don't want fires any where, especially not inside the cab.

 

Ah makes a ton of sense now, thanks for the explanation! I like how clean that is and I especially like only one power source coming into the cab for the interior accessories.

 

Does anyone know the part number for ujoints? My truck, 99 4cyl regular cab 4wd. I need the joint and the rear diff. I want a oem joint.

 

Are you talking about the double cardan joint (the one in the top left)?

If so, it's easier to replace the driveshaft. I found a writeup on rebuilding one, but it's from 2013, and I couldn't easily find the part numbers that were referenced. You can also buy cutoff double cardans from Toyota Pickups (maybe Tacomas, too) and get them welded to your driveshaft. I ended up replacing my driveshaft from a local wrecker for $200. I still plan on rebuilding mine, but haven't gotten around to it.
