Dome, Maps and Clock not working

Dome light went out a few weeks ago. Finally get a new bulb, decided on an LED hoping for brighter. Nothing happened. Jiggled it around, got a brief flash from the bulb, then nothing.

Next day, mess with bulb again without luck.

Third day, map lights not working and clock was reset. Try map light and lose clock.

I've seen it could just be a fuse, but an odd progression of fails it seems.

I didn't see anything on the dome LED that indicated a direction for installation (and neither did any how-to videos)

I'll check the fuse today. How likely is it that it could be a wiring problem. Note: I've never had any issue with electric anything until now.

    Ideas/Suggestions?

Check your Dome Fuse 7.5A in the underhood fuse box, you may have popped it if you put the LED in backwards.

The fuse is dead. Popped in a spare 10 to see what happens (Only for a quick look)... Clock and maps are good, but the dome is completely dead.

Going to pick up new fuses and a standard bulb and see how it goes

If LEDs are supposed to go in a certain way, you'd think there would be instructions or something for it:facepalm:

Your dome also grounds to the body through the metal clips that hold it into the headliner. I have had a similar issue and bending those clips out to make better contact resolved the issue. A touch of axle grease wouldn't hurt either(between the clips and the roof) to promote conductivity.

Interesting... I guess this might be a bit more involved than I thought.

    Anyway

A new fuse and regular bulb did the trick, thankfully.

The packaging for the LED bulb did have a note about ensuring proper alignment, but it was under the theft prevention sticker. And there wasn't anything on the bulb or anything to indicate a direction. Oh well.

Thank you all (not all) your assistance

Hey, I know you think you are being clever, but you aren't. In fact, I'm embarrassed for you.

Meanwhile the guy you're slamming is probably the most electronics blah blah qualified in here. If I had trouble he would be on the short list of who to listen to.

In all fairness, I'd rather keep searching for help than to deal with an ass. Qualified or not, there's no need to be a dick

I don't think he was being a dick, I think he was laughing at saying that it grounds through the metal clips. I believe there is just one ground. Might be mistaken. Also laughable to use axle Grease instead of Dielectric grease especially in your interior.
Look up the members helping you. 2 of them have a record of being extremely helpful to others. Then you have a guy that wants you to put axle Grease in your headliner

Yes, the same 'qualified' person you noted...

He could easily had said that's not true, or even flat out stated the other person was wrong. Only emojis does nothing to aid anyone

That being said, how do I shut down a thread?
