I have a sweatshirt and I like to cold anyway; I still have the portable A/C on in my room!

Also, people ask me all the time if what I do is legal. I have consulted both the PennDOT motor vehicle code and a couple cops I know, and have confirmed that it is in fact illegal. However, I had a New Hope cop pull up alongside me in his marked SUV and compliment me on the lights last year. My uncle is a cop in New Jersey with nearly 30 years on the force and he has said that he personally would not pull over a vehicle for having Christmas lights on it during the holidays if the driver wasn't breaking any other laws.

In December 2020, a Warrington Township cop told me that it was illegal, but that "I was fine."

Since COVID started, I've been seeing a lot more vehicles driving around with Christmas lights on. A lot of them are pickup trucks of various sizes and manufacturers, including a few Tacos, but most of them are Jeep Wranglers. One of the more popular setups I've seen is for small SUVs and crossovers to have battery-operated light sets on the roof rack. The only vehicles I've seen come even remotely close to my truck are Jeep Wrangler JKs though...

One of my buddies used to put them in the windows of his GTl back in the 1980's, don't think the cops ever bothered him.

If I got pulled over and ticketed…I would thank the grinch (literally call them one) and wish them a Merry Christmas and give them a coffee prepaid card I keep in my wallet.

Isn't bribing a cop an arrestable offense though?

Yes. The second time I got thrown in jail I tried that with a rather hot female officer. Didn’t work out well for this guy long term. Did get her number though.

However, a gift card isn’t a bribe after the situation is given.

Blackie sounded killer, though I hadn't seen them prior unfortunately. Wish to hell Chris was still there.

Armored Saint was decent, John was sick but Jason McMaster filled in. Different styles of singing but he made it respectable.

I am not taking my truck into Philly this year, like not even into Manayunk; I have not taken it to Delaware in "Christmas Truck" guise. I am considering taking it into Wilmington. My regular stops in Pennsylvania are Doylestown, New Hope, Hatboro, Bethlehem, North Wales, Montgomeryville, and numerous malls and shopping centers in that area Peddler's Village, which is located just outside New Hope, is probably my favorite place to bring the truck.

My only regular stop in New Jersey right now is Lambertville, which is directly across the Delaware River from New Hope. I am pondering Carlisle, even though that's a 2-hour drive, and I am likely going to take the truck into Delaware.

I might do Media, Pennsylvania; I am also less than two hours from the Maryland state line, so I might take it down there if I'm not too busy. Lancaster is a possibility as well.

Again, Philly is a definite no-no because there are very few public restrooms, and I don't feel like getting carjacked.

No, I tried getting her number while being cuffed. She said “are you trying to bribe me?” My dumb ass responded “would 20 bucks help and I do screw on the first date…”

My buddies were rolling on the ground in laughter.

It’s only illegal if you make it illegal.
That’s how I’ve had “things” explained to me.

Which means, don’t bring undue attention to yourself. And it will be “overlooked”.

It’s like most things in life. It’s not a problem until “it’s a problem”.

That’s correct. If the card was given after the citation, it didn’t play any role in influencing the out come.
But……If one were to go to court and fight it, the officer could ask the judge for leniency in your favor. Wink..wink ;) It happens more than we think it does, not all those legal fee go to the attorney.

Lol. They might be able to nail you on the color of lights. Blue and red (?) typically indicates LEO, and flashing those colors in LEO impersonation can get you arrested.

Will they bug you for Christmas lights? Highly doubtful. But theoretically they might.

Did you take her on a date??

God I should have. I had a buttload of other concerns after that. I lived in CA at the time and she was in Nevada.

Why do I have a feeling that drinking with you is fun. You seem to have a batshit crazy story for everything that pops up in here.

Carlisle or Lancaster are less than an hour for me so let me know if you're coming this way and if possible, I'll try and meet up with you. I put a string of lights around the bed of my truck last year and plan on it again this year.
