My step-dad wore his Geico Honda shirt around the pits and gained so much street cred with the boys haha.

Yep. I've known for a while but just couldn't say. I was told they were planning on running Hondas though, so maybe my info was wrong. We shall see.
That is cool. That team was huge. It was a shame that it went away. But nice that HRC brought the 250 team in-house. And there are still some good Honda satellite teams out there (MCR, PHX, Firepower etc)

Webb signed for '23 SX with an Outdoor option. Looks 1 way on the surface but I won't be shocked if that is just a placeholder contract. I think he wants out at KTM. Lot's of drama behind the scenes. Eli retires after '23 SX so I won't be shocked if Webb is on Star by this time next year. He has a good relationship with the owner at Star. They both have mentioned wanting him to come back to finish his career. Supposedly Webb rode the bike in private sometime recently too. So I do think that rumor has a lot of truth to it. We will see.

I've been waiting for this one to come around. Let's see if Deegan can run with the front of the pack this weekend.

I saw in the latest Vital vid that Club is off the table lol. I have no idea what is going on. That (2 weeks ago) was the deal that gave him everything he asked for - sponsorship freedom, semi-factory support with win/bonus money straight from Yamaha, a team to race for in WSX and a competitive bike with semi-Factory parts. I don't get it. At least if he goes to Suzuki, there is some money there and some semi-Factory support. I just am not totally sure if that bike is quite top notch at this point.

I think of everything (non Honda) he's ridden so far, he looks best on the Zuk. Old fart vets need to see beyond the kickstart and actually compare the bike's features to others. Even back in 2021 testers were saying the RMZ is still a power house, weight is right there with Yami and Honda, and it's got Cadillac suspension. Engine is lacking some ponies and snort up top, but that's what factory sources and top of the line mechanics are for right? I'm still impatiently waiting for him to throw a leg over the damn mc450 tho. They need a two man team over there cause Bam isn't the answer if GG wants to get podiums.

GG isn't an option because if he wants to do AMA SX and then skip Nationals for WSX, no American Factory team is going to support that. So scratch that. As far as the RMZ, it's still behind on development, there is no way around it. They still have that slow rev, lots of engine braking, tractor type of power like 450s did 10 years ago. Sure the hp numbers can still be comparable and I'm sure Twisted Development has the bike running good, but they do feel a bit dated. All the newer bikes have a much free-er rev feeling. And the RMZ chassis isn't the easiest to set-up. In some ways people think the 18+ bike is a step back from the old platform that everyone loved. Plus, Suzuki's used to really stand out for their cornering but did suffer in other areas (stability and touchy set-up from track to track etc.) Every other brand has made strides in their handling. So it's not like it was back in the day when people (myself included) craved Suzukis just for their cornering. And they are still very heavy. Even when Kenny rode for RCH, they said they weren't able to shed a lot of weight from the bike. Star on the other hand was able to shed an insane amount of weight from the YZ450F through tons of work. HEP just isn't going to do that. So the bike is still going to be a notch below the Factory bikes, and even a Club Yamaha or Firepower Honda. Not saying he can't win or do well on the RMZ, but the facts are the facts.

All fair points. I'm still having a difficult time accepting that WSX will truly be a contender to SMX. Kenny would only have to get within top 20 in the SMX series to make the playoffs and have a shot at a 1 mil purse. You know anymore on SMX yet?

I am not sure WSX will end up being a premiere series either, but if they are willing to pay Kenny up-front "show-up money" then I can fully understand him taking that. I personally would rather do the Outdoors, still but that's just me.

As far as SMX details, I haven't really heard much else on details or anything that would be newsworthy to you. But I do have some projects at work that I am doing with the series/branding for them. But nothing that gives me any juicy info to share lol.

I wouldn't be surprised if he created his own team for 2023.
