This is way better anyway. If it's the Lexus engine, it will likely require 92 gas. That would be a deal breaker for me in the future.

 

I still, for the life of me, do not know specifically which 2.7L turbo people are referring to in this thread.

 

Negative, if that engine is available in the tacoma it will run on regular 87 gas like the highlander. Only the lexus models will require premium.

 

The only 2.7 turbo that I can think of is the one used in the chevy silverado/colorado...don't know of any used in toyota/lexus vehicles.

 

dont know if its been said but you can get the king cab in a pro-4x package

 

Off-road with a manual is definitely a disadvantage. (Yes I know how and I’m good at it) The automatic is by far and away easier and better, as long as the transmission is a good quality transmission. I think I’m done with rowing gears off-road.

They must be getting it confused with the non turbo 2.7 2tr-fe in the tacoma.

 

That’s not the point. If I have money to spend and want a manual, I will be looking for a manual. If no manual, I’ll give my money to someone who wants it.

 

Just because the newer trans has more gears doesn't mean more shifting all the time. Most higher gear count trans can and do skip gears in both up and downshifts.

 

I doubt there are going to be much options to choose from if any, the truth of the matter is manuals make up a very small percentage of sales.

 

There's always a trade off. The same thing that makes it easier raises the trans temp.

I am waiting to see if the 4th gen scoop looks cool before I decide if I am going to buy one.

 

Depends on the offroad, tbh. If I can keep it in a steady gear range it's one less thing to think about.

 

I think the new Bronco Manual has a super low crawler gear, imagine it wouldn't be too bad in rough areas.

 

I had one and yes it’s good off-road BUT not as easy as the auto. I sold it to get back in a Toyota with and auto.

 

Well I think at the end of the day Toyota is going to go for efficiency (no more v6 and no manual) but they’re going to keep all of the capabilities that the Tacoma is known for now. Mike Sweers Chief Engineer for BOF vehicles basically said the same thing.

The small parts list for Hybrid meaning it’s likely only one or two trims has me nervous. I’d prefer to not have a ton of technology on my truck but I would like a hybrid. Should be interesting, I look forward to a debut in the next few months hopefully.

 

The new Tundra is a good look at what drivetrain will be in the Taco I think.
It won't be a full "hybrid" and won't sport any hybrid badging. See below link for why.
I think it will utilize the same tech in the new Tundra which is explained really good here in link below.
Since Taco wants to at least maintain current tow capacities, full hybrid tech is out of question today.
We'll have battery cells under rear seat, and will forgoe an alternator as well due to new set up.

The real question is … will it crest 60k msrp for a top trd trim

 

I would say more than likely. I hope the trim and options I want is still below $50k but who knows, everything is going up in price.
