Choosing Subwoofer

Epicentre is a bass “enhancement” circuit, which that LC2i doesn’t have. Not to worry, Accubass is good as well. It returns what manufacturers remove from the tuning of stock headunits to keep crappy stock speakers alive. Just follow the instructions on tuning the LC2i, and you’ll be golden.

 

With the LC2i would I be able to add a second amp later on and upgrade all my other speakers?

 

he's talking about the 'accubass' setting on the lc2i. it's special processing that can make the bass more impactful

You'll want the LC7i if you intend to run multiple amps.

sorry, must have missed the second page of the thread, thought it stopped at the question.

you can add other amps off the lc2i. difference is that you can only adjust using the amp gain controls, and will be using either rca y-adapters, or looping in/out of each amp. using the lc7i instead offers increased adjustment to each individual output. whether that's worth an extra $100 for the lc7i is a matter of personal preference.

but didn't you mention before that you have the jbl system?
if that's the case, and you want to amplify the entire system while keeping the stock head unit, you need to use the PAC AmpPro

in the jbl system, the head unit sends a digital signal back to the amp, which then decodes and sends a processed signal out to every individual speaker. you need to replace the oem jbl amp with one of the above to get the outputs to aftermarket gear.

 

So if I just want to add a single amp going to a sub then I should use the Lc2i and if I added another separate amp to run replaced door speakers then I’d have to use the pac amp pro and the lc7i would not work? If that’s the case then ill probably just go with the Lc2i and add a 12” and keep the stock jbl speakers cause they’re meh good enough.

i think you can use an loc on the oem subwoofer output to use a different sub. so the lc2i might work(i'm not as well versed in the jbl system). but to change all the speakers, with a different amp, you need the PAC AmpPro

So I ended up getting a ported 12” alpine type s with the s-60m. I was wondering if there’s a volume on the stock head unit that I shouldn’t go past because it will cause clipping, I couldn’t find it anywhere. And also would it cause clipping if my bass was up all the way on the head unit?

If the amp sensitivity is set correctly it should be fine

 

Typically, if you don’t know the clip volume in a headunit, it was recommended to me once to not go past 75% on the headunit. Set gains on the LC2i and you should be good.

 

What about the bass setting?

 

Ideally, you want to set the EQ to your liking, then set the gain on the LC2i.

 

Okay I had the amp tuned by a local Audio shop and the bass was on max when I got it back so I’m assuming it’s fine I just get scared when it’s on max gain and head unit up sometimes I can smell the voice coil I think kind of smells like rubber.
