Where do you all like to shoot shotguns in the north sound area? I think I'll hit up West Coast Armory, but thought to check here first.

 

Mags are supposed to be grandfathered. Just not sure about the crossing state lines part.

 

it's an interesting question. WA already has mag ban and mags are grandfathered as well. To visit family we take 395 to John Day. Sheriff out there might not even care anyways.

 

Read the measure. It says it takes effect January 1, 2023. Super sucks because it'll effectively ban gun sales until the state can get their stupid purchase permit system up and running which will take forever since there's no funding or structure for it. Plus the state police doesn't offer/approve of any training courses as required in the measure to get a permit which will add to the clusterf*ck.

If you've had your eye on any new guns in the next year or two so I'd say buy them before the end of 2022 to be safe. We might be waiting a long time after that and who knows how many FFLs will go out of business while waiting for the permit structure to be implemented. (this was all done very intentionally by the group that wrote the measure)

Not sure on the non-resident CCW but I don't think so on the bringing your standard cap mags down on trips. (legally... hopefully no one will actually care/enforce the law) The measure very specifically bans the use of grandfathered standard capacity magazines anywhere except for at home and at the shooting range. That means we'll all be stuck using neutered magazines in our carry guns even if we own grandfathered in pre-ban mags.

 

I hope they have to rewrite this law to make it comply with constitutional rights.

But this is the exact text I found on the mags.
(c) In addition to either (a) or (b) of this subsection the owner has not maintained the large-capacity magazine in a manner other than:
(A) On property owned or immediately controlled by the registered owner;
(B) On the premises of a gun dealer or gunsmith licensed under 18 U.S.C. 923 for the purpose of lawful service or repair; (C) While engaging in the legal use of the large-capacity magazine, at a public or private shooting range or shooting gallery
or for recreational activities such as hunting, to the extent permitted under state law;

 

Doubtful. Garbage measures like this usually get implemented verbatim until the opposition challenges it in court which is a very lengthy and expensive process. That's the catch with ballot measures, "we" are voting it into law. Not recommending the state government implement it and review it and make sure it's all legal. What you see is what you get.

The other part that sucks (which every gun control bill always has at the very end) is this:

SECTION 12. If any provision of this 2022 Act or its application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the invalidity does not affect other provisions or applications of this Act which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this Act are severable.

So even if one part is found unconstitutional the rest of the bill stands. It will have to be dismantled piece by piece to take it out of effect.

According to the reddit approval thread it sounds like the wait just keeps getting longer and longer.

Do it! And buy a second complete lower. Cause you’ll want to build your own setup about a year later.

 

Or a few stripped lowers. Cheap insurance to have stashed away for a rainy day.

How is that possible when the state Secretary of State doesn’t confirm the vote counts until Dec 15th? Got a link to your source?

Everything I’ve read has said either Jan 1 or Jan 15.

Valid. I'm not a super big gun guy, I only go shooting about 3/4x a year. I get a pretty solid pro deal on Faxon stuff, and I dig their AR pistol. I'll probably upgrade it a save the parts to use on a super budget build. Or, save up and buy an AK since it's what I want anyway.
