What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

A week into being a 3rd Gen owner and I have my first 3 mods done…

1. Debadge (and TRD Offroad stickers), because “Badges... We don’t need no stinking badges.”
2. PRO Grille, ish. I will admit it’s aftermarket, but it’s got a big cement colored TOYOTA on the front as opposed to the big sombrero.
3. Cargo lights in the bed. Bright AF. Fortunately the Offroad has the wires already run, just plug & play.


I’m still working on the list of things to come i.e. tires/wheels, leveling kit/suspension upgrade all 4 corners, lighting upgrades, covert bumper & maybe a winch? But the 3rd Gen is going to stay pretty stock for now. I have a perfectly good 1st Gen with lots of mods & upgrades. I will say it’s amazing the difference between the ‘02 TRD Offroad and the ‘20 TRD Offroad (and the similarities). Makes me wish I still had my old ‘87 & ‘95 trucks for comparison.

 

After 7 years of owning my truck and battling with the crappy infotainment system disconnecting and not reconnecting to my phone unless I restarted the truck……finally by accident realized if you push and hold the volume and tune knob at the same time it reboots the radio without restarting the truck. Man would this have been nice to know……oh 7 years ago!!! Lol

 

Did you have to wait the 10wks or so or find a vendor that had it on hand?

 

Did you get any updates to the stereo from Toyota? If not, there is a TW member that posted updates.

Installed Bosch Europa Horn and Rear footwell lighting

 

I would like to know more about the Bosch Horn...How do you like it?

 

Think I’m going to go with those also. Probably will paint the bolts myself. I even thought of painting the stiffners color matched

 

I have those same ones. The backseat isn’t very bright but I think it’s just the angle of the housing honestly

 

She can make a larger one for it to fit

Nice. I ordered mine a couple of days ago. I've already pulled the seats just waiting until it comes in to pull the rear panels and storage cubbies.

Changed my first flat tire this am in my driveway, on my way to work within in 5 minutes of starting my truck up and driving out of where i live my warning light went on.
turned around, backed into the driveway, and changed out the tire, glad i have a floor jack in my garage, no bottle jack for me, unless it is on the side of the road.
tired changed out and spare on in 20 minutes.

When i re install the tire , what do i torque the lug nuts to? and can anyone tell me what size impact socket i can use, since i just used the cheap lug wrench that came with my truck.

I crank it to 100ft lbs but honestly star pattern with an impact will suffice.

With the center counsel out is it possible to install another usb port on the back side of the center counsel for an additional charging location? and if so is there a kit that can be purchased to be installed. and where would one tap into to do so.

 

My sr5 had two leads for both usb outlets. I was thinking of looking for a usb into two connector to simply plug in to one of the ports. I have yet to fined such a thing thou.
