Chased down and caught some thieves who stole some of my logging signs. Won't go into detail as they were minors, but they were confronted and signs were recovered on site as they drove up a road that is blocked 5 mile up. Opted not to press charges but filed a verbal report with sheriff's office for verbal trespass.
The first sign they stole was "Watchman On Duty". I guess they thought it was lying.

 

My brother says if his company puts up a gate across a logging road to access land they own, someone will come along and pull it down just so they can see what's beyond it.

 

Yeah, some people do. Where we have it blocked, it is blocked by a yarder and two shovels. Beyond that is a tank trap. This is the second theft attempt on this site, first happened when I was parked 3 1/2 above the equipment and someone stole the signs.

I have that on a coffee cup. Spent the last 2 years of my career walking around pointing it at people who tried to talk to me while I was still drinking my first cup.

We used to get butthurt about people stealing or moving road flooded signs and barricades.

Now, sop is to let police dispatch know the signs/barricades are gone so they can get the fire Dept. And go rescue Joe dumbass and his floating F-150.

Fines jumped from $500-1000 to like $10,000 for that kind of Bs.

 

Funny how the punishment fits the crime when they get involved. They should get their license suspended for 3 months too.

lived in that area a few years, Torrance & the cities that touch the inland border have some ugly areas. The nicer side touches Palos Verdes (world class real estate) and seeing 300k vehicles at every other signal numbs you to them pretty quickly. Seeing a Urus at 4am wouldn’t even raise an eyebrow.
