No metal plate but my knee that I broke tells when it’s about to rain.

…or I could just be old.

My best friend from high school died in a similar accident. The difference - he always refused to wear a helmet.

I'm glad you're still here brother.

i will never understand this tbh... old friend died from an atv accident because of the same reason no helmet... it may not be a lot but its enough to save you from either death or head trauma......

That was a struggle for me… acknowledging my situation sucked while also knowing it could have been worse and seeing what others have experienced.

The wrist is a tough one, hope it improves for you. I didn't even break mine and it's been a pain to get movement back. I'm now using this crazy Dynasplint contraption to stretch and help with rotation

I have the waterproof x-wave. They definitely lack breathability but it is only an issue during the dead of summer. If I were going to buy a pair today, I would go with the gore-tex version.

just a couple of things tbh
ya looking back at it and where i crashed if i was just ever so slightly more in one direction when i hit the curb i would have hit the signal pole... so it could always have been worse! if i didnt have my helmet (like some people....) my head would have hit the ground and i would have had damage internally or not be typing atm so thankful for what it was even thou i was in pain and off work for 2.5 months i look back at what was positive about it (Which aint much!) and just continue with life

ya it is i broke the main joint that allows it to move and another bone on the other side and a fracture in another spot so it was pretty messed up they were shocked i could move it at all with how i broke it lmao. all i gotta say is it felt awful to move! i hope it does improve but even doing my stretches and stuff it has just seemed to hit a road block of no more movement allowed so idk whats up with that... did you damage yours in the accident? and what is a dynasplint??

excuse me sir this is the gold wheel appreciation club who let you in here! i need to see your wrist band!

on topic of gold is best! kawi colors and gold dirt wheels ooooooh boy i want!

also off topic does anyone know if its worth it to swap from conventional forks to inverted?

Oof that must have hurt. And good thing you missed the pole! Yes happened in the accident, shattered the base of my left thumb. It was in a cast for a long time and my wrist got so stiff I could barely rotate it. There’s scar tissue in the area where the two bones in your arm meet. I’m sure my wrist took some impact too, also had a dislocated elbow on that side.

This is a dynasplint, you wear it a couple times a day and it gives you a light stretch.

tbh no it didnt hurt that bad i thought i knocked it out of socket so i was in pain but not as bad as i was expecting it to be oddly enough and when they told me yo your shit broken i was like really? i can move it thou see! and started try and move it and the nurse about grabbed me to stop because how bad it was lmao. now when they were setting the cast oh man! now that was painful!!! after that my pain kinda came and went depending on the day after surgery was when i had the most pain and the pain meds i lived on around the clock.... really didnt like that i was dependent on meds tbh.... and ya it really is lucky! i would have broken a lot more things or well ya if i hit it.

ahh damn that sucks! must have like jammed it into the ground or something to break it like that! ya i feel that scar tissue is a pain in the ass in spots that move a lot... i know mine still has a lot of buildup but man it just feels like it wont go further anymore... until my pup runs into it that is... then i hear it and feel the scar tissue break yuck! i hated that at therapy haha. see i thought my shoulder had disconnected as well since i couldnt lift it so i just left it where it was until they x-rayed and told me it was broken lol

man that thing looks wild af! idk why i never got anything like that? my therapy was squishy things that are hard to squish lol

    upload_2022-11-17_18-11-15.jpg
this is the spot i crashed at it was a combination of riding to fast for a corner on knobbys new to riding and sand in the road causing the bike to lose control and slide and me not knowing how to counter it... when i hit the curb i hit the ground and rolled like i have done with an atv or on little dirtbikes but no dice this time haha but when i rolled i landed near that pole to the left so close enough for my friends to be worried that i hit it

Yes I have titanium in my femur and tibia. And you don't get use to the pain. It's more nerve pain than anything. Feel the cold and a day before it rains. I've had titanium in my body since I was 19. 37 now.

Maybe you still had some adrenaline going, definitely hurts when they move shit around though. Agreed pain meds were a life saver but couldn't wait to stop, didn't want to get hooked. I see a hand specialist and she does manual therapy and gives me some other stuff to play with, got my thumbs working pretty good at least. Hoping my wrist sees progress with that device, want to avoid another surgery.

Yeah I jammed it good, here's a pic of the bike it took a pretty hard hit...the fork was mangled, snapped the triple tree clamp off, and front wheel was cracked with a chunk missing. That's definitely what caused my upper injuries. Not sure what I broke my leg on.

And I see what you mean in that picture, hitting that pole would have sucked

Dealing with both must have been rough man. I watched a video of retrograde femoral rodding surgery (afterwards) and its crazy. Drilling and hammering that thing into your leg yikes.
