Thanks, just some beer infused mumbling. I'll for update in a few months once I can thrash them a bit. :burp:

The rimpacts look interesting probably a bit better than a cush XC? I have somewhat of a rim sponsor these days so I think I'm gonna give it a go with nothing at least for a little while. With the trail bike I would prefer to keep it below that 1300g per tire mark with combined whatever. I'm curious to handle some of the trail casings. I've heard they are Exo+ ish. If they did come out with a Trail soft I would probably go with those and put the cushxc back in. They have a ton of bite marks so I know they have been workin.

Yea I had run the black chili trail kings before, they were similarly a pain to mount. Those were great tires and the tread seemed to barely wear. It was just the casings just weren't up to par. Something about the fabric inside would tear and they all got bulges and out of true. Conti sent me new ones on warranty but I just sold them off. It sounds you would like the Minion SS for a rear. I rode those and rock razors for a while and was a big fan. Ultra fast rolling with big ol side knobs.

I used them to build my Project 321/WeAreOne union wheels.

Quality and timeliness were spot on. I had to wait a little for all the parts to come in but after that it only took a day to build. They were super helpful and kept me informed the whole time.

Okay, It was about 35 degrees for tonight’s short 7 miler…. My feet were not ready, toes were soooo cold. Hands were cold at first wearing regular summer gloves, but did warm up.

    Layering socks on next ride.

I probably shouldn't have waited until the rotor was hitting the backing...

That's some uneven wear you've got there. Might want to clean up those pistons, and make sure the caliper is lined up well.

Did a full bleed, clean up and reset. It was about time, the mineral oil looked more like black coffee.

Rimpacts are a shit load beefier than the CC xc. More like regular CC, but waaayy lighter. Really interesting design; dual density, wide, light. I highly recommend, if you're into inserts.

Hey @honda50r, some guys are in town for my buddys wedding, and one of them is a mountain biker from Colorado. He’s been all over, Canada/Utah/NC, you name it. But…he mentioned he’s been seeing a lot of hype about Knoxville, isn’t on this forum, and really wants to check it out. I thought that was pretty cool and just wanted you to know what you guys are doing is definitely working! He said he’s been to whistler and I was like “yeah well I’ve been to Knoxville”

Yup. Just give it a few more years. If you want to know the trendy spot keep an eye on where the industry folks are personally relocating. Big influx of athletes/industry leaders moving to the area with more to come, currently working with someone you would all recognize to relocate his enterprise to town, hopefully we can get it through the finish line.

Full disclosure: we don't pay or provide government subsidies/incentives anyone to relocate to our area, unlike some other "mOunTAin BikE capITals"

That's fair game! But you can only fit squares in circle hole for so long. Not a sustainable practice

Dammmmnit. The front axle on one of my bikes has seized inside the hub. Anyone ever dealt with this before? Any tricks to getting it unstuck quickly?

Jeez, whens the last time you had that front wheel off lol.

Is it frozen to the hub, for sure, or is it the threads? Like, if you turn the axle does the wheel spin backward and the other end still want to unthread from the opposite fork leg? Or does it not turn at all, implying that maybe it's the threads in the fork leg that are stuck.

Remember to undo the pinch bolt for the axle on newer forks..
Also, lean it on it's side and blast it with the PB.

It has actually been about three months since I removed the front wheel on this bike. I guess that was enough time to jack it up on this particular set up, so lesson learned.

No pinch bolt on this one. If the PB doesn't do the trick, I guess I'll just use a screw extraction kit and sacrifice the axle to the bike gods if it's unusable afterwards.

Completely my fault for neglecting some basic maintenance. Bummer, though.

You can try smacking the QR side of the axle with a plastic mallet as you are spraying it too. We just had one at the shop with the same issue, ended up using a 4' breaker.
