It's a miserable road unless you buy new with a warranty

Yeah I wouldn't mind going new but most of its out of my ballpark, besides BMW.
I still want a 912 at some point. Most of what I like is on the much older side.
I don't think I'd mess with anything modern-ish and used that's German unless I can afford the bills. I don't have the skills a lot of you guys have as far as doing engine work etc.

One of our studio models has a newer Range Rover and her husband drives their older '07 one, yesterday she was talking about having issues with both and how annoying car repairs are. I feel like if you own two Range Rovers as dailies you would have to budget for repairs on a monthly basis, I thought that was generally accepted as the norm with them.

It's funny because they pick the car up from your house, give you a loner, and bring it back for you when services are complete. Even the BMW/Mini dealer here does that for routine maintenance.

For the cost of ownership I would hope so lol.

I understand wanting to 'keep up with the Joneses' mentality in an industry where people judge you for that kind of thing (like modeling) but damn at least get a luxury brand that's somewhat reliable.

Lexus and Acura really aren't fancy enough for California money and they're the only reliable luxury

Agreed. Plus the new RR are fugly things. Hell I'd rather have a new Armada or Sequoia than one of those. Its too bad Lexus is fully committed to their gross front ends right now.

I knew a retired AF Colonel back many years ago. They had 3 Jaguars that were all basically the same 4 door 6 cyl sedan -- maybe a year or two difference in age.

When asked why they had 3, he said that one was always in the shop and they needed two cars.

we had a new Armada for a rental when we were in Norcal over summer, thing was a beast. Had some real get up n go but felt like driving a cruise ship on land. Then again I'm not used to driving large vehicles in general.

I know a few people with XC90s that have been happy with them. Volvo does a helluva nice interior too.

Too bad the Armada didn't get a little more Patrol beef. I love the VK56. My kid's 2014 Titan Pro 4x has been rock solid.

They're pretty damn big. I think you'd get used to it though.

You ever walk through a parking lot and get punched in the noise by the smell of diff fluid?

My dad has had some 1978 Jaguar XJ6s and they were always in need of help. They had Bosch K-Jetronic which is some scary archaic mechanical fuel injection with trim control.... it broke a lot

I think Saab used that in the mid-70s. It was sold as being more reliable than electronic injection. Imagine that.:rofl::rofl:

When Bosch LH-Jetronic came out though, man did things pick up. Nissan actually based their early multipoint FI on the whitepapers of LH-Jetronic
