Did you have to fabricate a donut shaped spacer to install it?

You can keep your Megamat inflated? Or have to deflate?

I got confused trying to picture where this was mounted, then I realized you have a Mesa lol.

Looks great! I think any roof ventilation will help. I was cooking up there on 65-70F day, albeit it was sunny.

Yes, with a leftover 3/4" piece of ply that I had. Cut a 6" hole to match the roof opening and then tried to match the exterior dimension of the fan. Painted it gray to match the gray spacers the folks at Topo used on the windows.

I also bought two of these for $56 a piece. Looks like the price went up though. They fit perfectly side by side in the space and a full site fitted sheet fits reasonably well on them. I have not tested for an overnight yet but should be considerably more comfortable than the pads that come with it. Tested it with a couple blankets and sleeping bags and does not impact the closing of Mesa, but unlikely to be able to keep pillows up there as I used to.

Have you looked into insulating it? It’s basically a solar oven as it is.

I have thought of it but have not come across a material I would want to use.

Does anyone know what material this would be at about 5:45 in this video?

I plan to insulate using a foil/foam insulation.

I insulated my Tuff Shed with this stuff and it made a big difference. For the Topo, I plan to cut it into shape and then glue some marine carpet on to it. I want it to be easy to remove so I can run wires behind it and for when I drill into the Topo for exterior lights and such. I'll stick it into place using pieces of industrial Velcro. It won't be perfect, but will look good from 5 feet away.

For reflectix to work best you need a 3/4" air gap between it and the outer surface. This is a good video on it: youtube.com/watch?v=T5N6wvWHfyU

1" foam board is pretty popular to use for campers since they often use 1" ribbing. You can cut that to fit the panels, and then skin and carpet over that or just carpet over that directly too in theory

Good video. I did the air gaps on the ceiling of my shed, the second time I did it lol. I haven't completely ruled out foam board. I keep going back and forth. I'm waiting on most of my electrical stuff to get here before I make a final decision.

I have, it's on my very long list of things to do lol. I had wanted to get it all done in time so I can snow camp during the ski-season, but they opened early! Gotta get my ass in gear now and priorities straight haha.

I was not aware of the needed air gap, good call out.

As for the upper portion, when the tent is popped, I plan to double layer the thickest moving blankets I can find, fill it with either reflectix or polyester filling and hang it with neodymium magnets

Good find, thank you!!! This has gone to the top of my list. I really like the grid on the adhesive side of it. I wouldn't be able to easily be able to remove it, but it looks easy enough to just cut out holes for all the nuts on the inside of the Topo. I really want to keep them accessible just in case they come loose or something. Closed cell foam also holds up well when you drill through it, so adding stuff in the future wouldn't be a problem. I'm not looking for something with a crazy R value. I just don't want to feel the heat or cold when I touch the sides and I'd also like to prevent condensation. My snugtop was carpeted and that was enough to stop condensation, but fiberglass is no where near as conductive as aluminum. I'm a fair weather camper. I only go out if the temps are between 30's-90's. Thanks again for the recommendation!
