"We take our Health for granted....... till we lose it!"

Woke up Nov 5 @ about 1230am, with horiffic nausea, so went to the bathroom and upchucked twice! As I returned to the bedroom, I collapsed to "hardwood" floor Twice, bouncing my head off that hardwood!

As i lay there, i did not know time, place, who i was etc. Wife was talking to me but I could not understand her. I could not speak in full sentences, slurred/gargled speech ....... lasting 2.5 days.

Was ruched to the hospital and spent 3 days there and all testing, CT, MRI, heart/carotid artery exams all negative!

Hospital discharge diagnosis: Stroke (TIA) and sever concussion. As you know a mini-stroke (TIA) last only minutes and as usually passed by the time a Medic Unit arrives! My symptoms, memory/speech were the results of the severe concussion.

As you probably know, 45% for Pts experiencing a TIA, suffer a full-blown stroke within 12-18 months, so in a sence, I feel like a walking time bomb.

So, live today as if its your last, hug and kiss your family daily, as if its your last day!

"For what is life, its like an early morning fog, that appeareth for a time, then vanishes away"!

I am Truly Blessed to be in apparent Good Health at this minute.

To All ......... Have a Blessed Day!!!!

Sometimes I like to take a bourbon out on the deck and watch the sunset, listen to the birds settling down... This weekend, I think I might take part of the dash apart. I've got a forward facing camera hack, and a footwell lighting project to execute. Maybe I'll just do one and save the other for next weekend. Got a few other electrical mods I'm considering as well, one being courtesy / rock lights for illuminating the area under the doors. Can't wait to retire but I still have three in college. My wife is playing her trumpet in church this weekend, so I'll be taking in some music. Happy Friday everyone.

When you really think about this situation it is really our generation's fault. This normal started in the 60's and never stopped. Unfortunately, the so-called famous people do this all the time and get 98% of the media sound bites. The other 2% of us that take responsibility for our actions rarely are featured in the media sound bites.

Welcome bill. Toss in a 48 pack of water and you are golden.Welcome to the thread.

Wishing you all the best and hoping you still have a long life ahead. Time to do all of the things you ever wanted to do in life.

Dood morning. and welcome to the Senior weekend. Be sure to take care of all your errands today, next week will be a busy one. Today I hope to be able to give blood, pick up a few rubs, at a local store, and find some fresh Thyme and Sage. My do-to supermarket was sold out yesterday.

I did manage to clean the workbench and other areas in the garage. While digging through a drawer this morning I found a new pair of Levies in a size I want to buy. I think I should buy a lotto ticket today.

A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Loos like some garage chores, and get ready for a cold, wet weekend. Split a little more wood too, to make sure I'm ready (I'm really enjoying that thing!) Quartered logs are what fit best in the insert, so I'm splitting my split wood. And I learned the other day which of those pieces will like splitting again for kindling.

Welcome Anthony, and good Karma for you Bill.

    Welcome, Anthony!

Bill hope you heal fully, and good to hear your appreciation of life.

I finished up my PT after my knee replacement in August. Breaking up scar tissue is difficult but measured at 0 (fully extended) and 127 (flexion) degrees. So considered full range, the right leg can do 132, so I need to keep stretching those muscles. I also managed ten sit-to-stands in under 15 seconds (good) and averaged about 25 seconds on my single-leg standing. Much better than my first day of PT, but I had taken six weeks off from my boxing class, so my balance was severely impacted.

Getting older sucks, but we must keep working to maintain those muscles and balance. It is a good predictor of fall risk if you can not stand on one foot for more than 10 seconds. My Parkinson's Boxing class uses BOSU balls (half-round balls) or foam pads to engage those ankle muscles and keep our brains active. Even with two feet on the BOSU ball while the coach calls out hits on a heavy bag is fun and a great workout. I never realized how much core strength plays into balancing.

    Afternoon all:

    willee,I had posted this before.
My mother went through the same thing, a book called "victims of stroke" calls the unexpected falling "dropping" and said that it is a definite sign of an impending stroke. They did all the tests on her after she fell twice and went to the hospital and they said she did not have a stroke, but her heartbeat was down to 40 BPM and they recommended a pacemaker. She received a pacemaker and had a major stroke 4 days later while still in the hospital.
Hoping for the best for you, but be careful, if I had read that book sooner, they would never have put the pacemaker in her until further down the road.
It looks like you already know what I relayed in this post, guess :fingerscrossed: is somewhat appropriate, again hoping for the best for you.

And for Anthony, welcome aboard, and don't forget to throw some sarsaparilla in the cooler! :)

Archery closed today: it was a good season for seeing but not for getting, we got NOTHING!
Neither one of us really wants to go out with the rifle, BUT looks like we will be out there, maybe we will even have to rely on the Flintlock season as the last resort!

If I trade it, they can do whatever they want to it, since it won't be mine any longer.

So sorry for your medical issues. Hope you stay healthy. Could be your sign to take better care of yourself? (if you aren't now) :proposetoast: to many more healthy years

So sorry you didn't get your deer Carl. Hope rifle is more productive for you.

Good morning. Yesterday was pretty decent. All the errands were run, and the Tacoma was washed. Dinner came out OK. The rib roast was a little overcooked for me but my wife and son did not complain.

Going to donate blood this morning, I could not get a Friday time slot for the donation. Tonight, should be music and dinner out at a restaurant. I heard some rumors about Christmas decorations starting to happen tomorrow.

During my career I donated blood to the lift gods 2 or 3 times a week.

Looks like the dreaded Christmas (sick) decorations Wednesday mid morning.

Why aren't young people being taught it's a civic duty to donate if they can? Unfortunately where I live now, I cannot donate platelets because the machines are not present. But, I can give a double red. Thank you for thinking of others. Giving blood is giving the gift of life.
