I hope I don't get fired. Already on a break. Currently at the west E diner for breakfast lol.
Got the highlander jacked up and on stands. LF wheel pulled ... tough kneeling down bending in there.... break time.

Indeed it does. On our end, our AC unit gave up after 20 years in 2020 - whole unit replace. 2021: had to have our gutter replaced and some minor repairs. 2022: replaced out 20 + year old dishwasher and water heater. I hope it stops pouring on my end.

I completely understand all those unexpected home repairs. I have a couple things in my house that are starting rear their ugly head. Someone cut a floor joist in half repairing the toilet drain line so that's nice. Water softener is starting to go as they have used it also as a water filter all these years so it isn't completely back-flushing properly and water pressure is dropping. The biggest thing is the septic system is failing. Mostly the leach field, but the tank is also the original 1965 one. Estimated cost $35,000 o_O

Also it's a nice $850ish for just 150 gallons of oil. So, my heat is set on 60°

 so glad I got the house converted to natural gas this summer. I had no idea it went up that much from last year. I think my last tank in Feb was around $450-$500 for 150

It actually went down a little bit since last week, surprisingly enough. But, I've been putting in 5-15 gallons per week just trying to spread out the cost...

So the dryer was delivered from Lowe's but when we turned it on, it sounded like a jet plane. We called the Robinson store from where it came. The guy there was understanding and has contacted the warehouse about getting us a replacement. Just our luck. I guess the clothes will sit for another few days.

We switched a few years ago to propane. When I ordered from the company we use, they had oil listed at $5.25/gallon and propane at $2.44, both without the cash discount. Oil is just outrageous at the moment. A fill on my old oil tank would have been nearly $3000.

Yea my dryer has been making some racket for a while. Only a matter of time. Going with another used one though. This one was several years old when we bought it in 2015, so not too bad.

I oddly enough have an indoor clothes line, so worse comes to worse...

Same here with the clothesline. This last on we bought new and it lasted 14 years, so I can't complain. the frig was 10 years old. Would have liked to get a few more out of that.

I would have never believed it but we have passed a line where heating with electric is cheaper that heating with oil.

My oil furnace packed it in, you would think something as important as a furnace would last more than only 50 years of service. Naturally the tank is full...

Although I don't like the idea of being chained to the tank and the supplier for propane I'm leaning toward that for replacement.

With oil you always have the option of buying 10 gallons of diesel or kerosene to keep you going if needed. Oil furnaces are easy to fix if you keep $20 of spare parts on hand too.

If it is a Kenmore/Whirlpool you can get a service kit with all the wheels, tensioner and belt for little money. Easy job on them, the top lifts up like a car hood and the front comes off.

I made the switch from oil to propane in 2016, when our old furnace died. I have a 500 gallon propane tank, which actually only holds 400. The company I use will fill it no matter how little we need and they have a cash discount, so it's not too bad to fill. I usually fill it twice a year and it is so much cheaper. It doesn't burn as hot, but it is so much cheaper.

With using my electric oil filled heaters and changing some stuff on my boiler, I've barely made a dent in the fuel level on the oil tank. Although my heat is set on 60° it only comes on at night when I have the living room heater off. My room is on its own zone so I just keep my electric heater on low at night. Keeps the room around 63°-65° The furnace kicks on for my room during the day a little bit when I'm at work.

It's a GE. Early 00's model from the looks of it. My washer is also a GE that has the agitator, but has all the electronic mumbo-jumbo and it's a real POS! :annoyed:
