It also depends on transmission, for the 4.0. I’m auto and went for 5.29, if manual I would have gone 4.88
I don’t have 37s yet but from what I have gathered that seems to be the best route to take

I don’t have any experience with supercharged trucks, I guess I’d say it depends on how much off-road use / crawling you like to do. There is something beyond wonderful about putting the truck in 1st 2nd or 3rd gear (AT) on a steep technical descent and not touching the brakes.. just letting the gears do the work while wheeling. It’s amazing what they can do. Same for long rocky climbs. It’s great

    Thanks you guys!
Yeah I kinda figured 5.29s was the way to go until I started reading a lot of you are running 4.88s so I started questioning it!
But I think what I've figured from the start was correct I'll go 5.29s since I am pretty heavy on the daily as well so thank you all for your input!

@Oreo Cat conpletely correct. This argument cannot be had across both transmissions mated to the 4.0 2nd gen. Oreo is totally right here. The MT would be best suited with the 4:88 vs 5:29 on the AT because of the shift ratios or final drive or gear ratio’s or whatever it is. They’re totally different

FWIW with heavy 37” MT’s and steel beadlocks my truck wasn’t even a “bear” or a “chore” to zip around town in with 5:29. It was totally fine as far as power and zipping around goes (referring to street driving) because I didn’t really do any trails with my 37’s

Coopers measure in super short. You essentially ordered 35.5s. But they are great tires.

I daydream of tracks whenever I see those conversion clips! I'd probably have to downsize tires though.

    Check My Sig.
There’s an actual equation that tells you the correlation to tire size. Just because you don't choose to use it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exists.

At the end of the day, vehicle setup is subjective. You’re perspective that more gearing is ideal for off-roading may be true to some extent but does not apply to everyone as most people only see dirt 2% of their truck’s life, even if you think you’re hardcore. Unless your rig is a dedicated trail rig, that’s simply not the case.

Out here in the west we have to drive long distances to get to the good adventure spots so I opt for a little more road worthiness ( being that’s 98% of the trip) and use my 4-low to compensate when crawling or when needed. 4:56 gears and 35s.

I find 4:56s with my "35s" and manual transmission work out pretty well for adventures. I have a dedicated offroad truck now so my taco doesn't get beat on nearly as much anymore.

4.56 and 37s. With no head wind I get an average of 16mpg on the interstate. V6 & auto.

Not saying it's right but it has worked well for me.
