Well when all else fails I seem to resort to TW to resolve all my issues. With that said, just took the Craftsman lawn mower out of the garage today. Changed battery, started it up, pulled it out, and let it run for a while. HOsed it off and washed it. Got back on it, tractor will only go in reverse, not forward. Anybody know anything about this. Also, its a 6 speed transaxle if that helps at all.

You don't need 3 threads for your lawn mower...

What does it do when you try to go to forward, is it running ok, did it work before you washed it?

I know I dont need 3 threads, it just I had no clue where to put it. And Im suppose to be selling it tomorrow, so I needed a quick answer...

Before I washed it, it worked fine. I put a new battery in it, drove it out of the garage. Washed it, started it. Shut it off, started it again, and would not go forward...

    Wet belt. Let it dry.

I'm not real familiar with riding mowers but is that a hydro drive? Check your electrical connections, sounds like it's an actuator of some sort (if it's hydro drive). If you pressure washed it, it may have blown something lose. It may be tough, but if water caused it, drying it out may cure it. I had an old dirt bike that would quit every time it got wet and ran great once it was dried out. Yours sounds like a connection though, at least that's where I'd start.

I just read your other threads, if you're belt driven, that could very well be the cause. It would work in reverse because the tension on the belt is different and it actually catches in reverse. Let it dry out.

Appreciate all your guys help. Going to wait till morning and see what happens. And no, its not a hydrostatic, so Im hoping itll just dry out. It worked fine, up until I sprayed it with the hose...just gotta wait and see

I had to put a new drive belt on my mower and at first it worked okay but didn't take long for it to stretch enough for it to only work in the higher gears and reverse. I adjusted some of the slack out of it and it's fine now. You could be just wet and slipping or you might need some adjusting. Not a big deal though.

I'll chime in on the wet belt... I have a 19 horse craftsmad with the 6 spd. Super easy to check if its slipping, get someone to attempt to drive it forward and see if the belt is moving. If its the same unit as mine (manual shift, have to stop moving to shift) then the rear dif assembly is a sealed unit and a pain to work on, also very unlikely anything goes wrong in their from my understanding.

Mine stopped moving once after I fixed a flat. Forgot to put the pin back in the axle... silly thing was spinning inside one wheel. STUPID!
